Will Grand Prix GT rims fit on GP GXP?

I'm thinking of picking up a used GP GXP but I am concerned about the fat, 255-width front tires in the snow. I would like to get a set of the 17 inch wheels from the '05-'07 GP GT (for which there is a great snow tire selection) for winter use, but I'm not sure if they will fit over the plus-sized GXP rotors. If anyone can help with this I would really appreciate it.

As long as the wheels are the same diameter, or bigger than, your current wheels, they should work just fine. The backspacing for the rims, regardless of trim level, should be the same.

Actually I'm pretty certain that your biggest concern will be if the 17''s will clear the brake calipers but I don't think they're THAT big on a GXP

Re: Will Grand Prix GT rims fit on GP GXP?

I'm going to slip my question into this thread because it is of a similar nature.

My wife and I are considering a G8GT and wonder if we could fit the 17"ers off a Grand Prix on for winter duty. Steal 17s from the base GP are about 5 for a dollar(well.. maybe a little more then that, but cheap none the less) and if thet fit on the G8GT it would open up a much larger world of winter tire selection.

Does anyone have any experiance in this area?

You will have the same caliper fitting problem, and offset problem most likely, as for bolt pattern it is most likely the same, BUT check at the parts counter the G8 is Holden based and may be different...

I can squeeze a set of 16" steel wheels on my SS for winter with about 2 mm clearance from the caliper....

Thanks for the insight.
The G8 is looking less likely for us now. For some reason I thought it could pull 3500lbs but I just found out that it is maxed out at 2000lbs so that will probably put us back into a small pickup for another few years.
