What Oil and Filter do you use?

This goes out to all of us who change our own oil. What engine oil do you prefer to use? Mobil 1, Penzoil, Quaker State, Valveline, Castrol, or any other? And what oil filter do you use? Fram, Mobil 1, Wix, AC Delco, K&N, or any other? I bring this up because I have been using Mobil 1 Filters for the last 4 years since I started changing my own oil. I use to use Quaker State synthetic blend, the 4x4 kind, but starting with my Duramax I switched to Mobil 1 Delvac 1300. And in my wife's Envoy and my 07 Silverado I have stayed with Mobil 1 and used the 5w-30, its what both of them call for. I'll be interested in what all you guys say.

Pennzoil conventional, Motorcraft blend, and Pennzoil Platinum. I'm not a big synthetics fan because they usually provide no advantages, but the platinum was on sale for $1.99 so I stocked up.

I'll use almost any filter brand except Fram. Usually Purolater or Advance Auto brand.

I use Castrol or Mobil 1 with ACDelco filters. Castrol because that's what we have at the shop and Mobil 1 because my car requires it.

Mobil 1 5w30 or Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 and a Napa Gold filter.

The synthetic provides me with easier winter starts. I also go by the DIC to change oil and I feel safer with synthetic given the intervals.

You use 5W20 in your Envoy???? I little too thin, IMO...

I use Valvoline or Mobil oil, with either AC/Delco or Purolator Pure One filters...

Running Valvoline 10W40 & a Purolator Pure One filter right now on the Roadmaster...

When I do the oil change myself in the summer I use Valvoline 5W30 and AC Delco filter. In the winter I go to the shop simply because I have no place in the garage to do the oil change. They use Quaker State and a Purolator filter. I don't use Fram filters.

Filter - whatever brand came with the vehicle:

GM - AC delco
Ford - Motorcraft
and so on...

Oil - whatever is on sale (and is the grade the car calls for) although the discount store brands scare me.

However the Regal gets full synthetic. The turbo beats the heck out of oil, especially when you get on it - which I am known to do from time to time.

Rotella T in my Ram, and Valvoline MaxLife in Camaro and Ranger, all use NAPA Gold filters.

Castrol 10w30 with AC Delco filter. I've got 119,000 miles on the Firebird and no engine problems (except that beeping gasket issue a few months back). I used Royal Purple for a while b/c I can get it free, but because the car has miles on it RP runs right through the seals around the valvecovers and other orifices. If I had a new car RP would be what I'd use.

My apoligy, that was a mistype on my part. I use 5w30 in the Envoy and Silverado, its what both of them call for.

Explorer: Mobile 1 5W20, Motorcraft filter, changed every 7,500 to 8,000 miles
C230: Mobile 1 0W40 (it takes 7 liters) , Purolator filter, just did the first change after the factory maintenance program expired, will change it every 10,000 to 12,000 miles.
