V-8 for a Riviera

Has anybody given any thought to putting an LS4 (transverse mounted 5.3) in a last generation Riviera?

Follow the discussion here: http://rivperformance.editboard.com/...highlight=swap

Theoretically it could be done since the 97-99 cars utilize the 4T65-HD trans that the LS4 cars do, but the L67 can easily be modded to out power the small block.

Re: V-8 for a Riviera

You could also buy this SEMA Riv complete with a Northstar, pretty slick.

Re: V-8 for a Riviera

but wouldn't a N* Riv be slower in the 1/4 compared with a stock L67 Riv?

Possibly, I'm not sure on the horsepower rating but it probably has ~275 hp. If you go by power alone then it should reason that the N* would be faster but the L67 makes more torque more of the time so its close. The Aurora had the 250 hp 4.0 N* and was considerably slower though, almost a second in 1/4 mile. Plus modding the L67 is a hell of a lot easier, so good thing they put it in there anyway
