Re: Upgrades for 3.5l V6

I know a guy with a 2006 Monte with the 3500 V6 who did some mods to his car. The tranny went out on it at around 68K miles so he found a 2006 4T65 out of a 3900 car and put that in his. That tranny uses a 3.29 gear instead of the lazy 2.86:1 in the 3500 cars. He had the chip reburned and adjusted for the extra gear. He put in a Cold air intake, Royal purple oil and had some exhaust work done. It's hardly a race car but it feels noticeably quicker and more fun to drive and these mods didn't set him back a ton of money.

By the time this is done I could have traded in my car, gotten a huge down payment ready and get a fast or equally good car new-ish. Thanks for the replies, though. I really can't do anything that involves any physical modding, including engine mounts. It needs to just drop in or it can't work. Besides, I just remembered it's a FWD car, making all this power useless :P Unless I want to keep replacing front end parts when 400 HP rails on them all day.
actually FWD is not all that useless. Search around online and u can find some good parts like i did. I have a '06 impala with the same 3.5L V6 as ur monte carlo. I was going to go with the STS turbo kit as well, but decided to go to ebay and get a $800 universal turbo kit, a electric oil pump, and a a second turbo...yep im twin turboing it lol (doing the install this weekend)....As for fueling upgrades, ZZP has injectors for the 3800SC that are the same for the 3500, as well as fuel pressure regulator adaptors so that u can use a universal regulator to tune the fuel farther....Larger front sway bar and polyurethane bushings from Jeggs.com....HP Tuners in SC can tune it....either Intrax(1.8" drop), Eibach(1.2"), or Sprint(1.6") lowering springs......KYB GR-2 or AGX adjustible shox.....etc. There are plenty of parts out there to make more power and be able to handle it, u just have to look around and you may need a little custom fitment, but its very possible. The reason i didnt go with the V8 swap is b/c it would cost too much for me, even doing the fab work myself. the engine itself is about 3 grand with low milage, that's about all i expect to put into my impala including suspension.

Im looking to get about 350-380whp from about 7psi of boost on stock internals. That should be fine for now, and later on i'll get JE Pistons to make some bottom end parts...forged pistons, rods, possibly crank.

With whatever u choose to do, good luck on ur endeavors. I'll put up some pics of my build later on so u can see what ive done.

Yeah.... What he said.
