ECOTEC 5 - LE5 Increased HP with Bolt Ons ?

After installing a K&N SRI on my LE5, I'm wondering what the potential HP increases are for Hi-flow (straight thru) glass pack type muffler and four into one header.... This engine with VVT seems to have a lot of potential with out going the turbo or super charger.

A glasspack muffler will soundlike junk with your car. I do suggest the header for the car, but probably a better exhaust from Corsa or Magnaflow if they make it.

I agree with Al, I know that there are several companies selling exhaust kits for the SS/SC's but I don't know if there is any difference between those and the NA versions, I suggest going to cobaltss.net, you'll find tons of info on there that is all geared towards Cobalts.

I would say somewhere between 10-15 horepower to the wheels. 4 cylinder engines in general do not respond as well to simple bolt-on's like V6 and V8 engines do because really it is a percentage of displacement.

With a good true dual exhaust and longtube headers, you can pick up 25-30 horsepower(or more) on an LS1 motor.

stock my 2.4 put down 153hp and 151torque to the wheels. then i got the gmpp intake and you can def feel a difforence but i havent dynoed it sence. for muffler i would buy the gmpp cat back. thats what im geting for my car and they sound great and give good numbers for power.

GMPP catback is proven to only pick up 2-4 horsepower. Same with the air intake. Together you maybe pick up 10.

The only problem is the 12 HP gain is with Forced Induction... The dyno charts showing the before and after installation gains are for a 205 HP Super Charged LSJ engine and not for a Natural Aspirated CVVT 2.4L LE5 engine. With a Short Ram Induction the LE5 is going to be a completely different animal so the expectation of 12 HP gain should not made!

Still looking for performance exhaust system HP gains!

GMPerformanceProducts do provide bolt on products that increase HP over factory stock.
