Dyno #'s for a stock LS3 right here.

This is a local car that is just going through the initial stages. The LS3 is looking even better than I was expecting. Looks like we are going to see some wicked Camaro's in the not-too-distant future.

Bone stock LS3 M6 in a 08' C6 laid down 387rwhp and 377rwtq.

LG long tube headers, No cats, and a K&N intake were added. It then laid down 423rwhp/426rwtq This is untuned.

They then added a G7X-4 cam, and got 488rwhp. Without a Tune.
Results with a tune should be coming today.

Bone stock it is putting down more power than the 03'-04' Cobra's that have the super heavy D.O.H.C. + supercharger + intercooler + all the plumming. I like the Cobra drivetrain but this new LS3 is shaping up to be a wicked motor.

Re: Dyno #'s for a stock LS3 right here.

387 rwhp @ ~3180lbs.....it's pretty much perfect bone stock.

488rwhp UNTUNED with just a cam and bolt ons is INSANE.

With a tune, that easily 500rwhp. Imagine what it'll do with ported or aftermarket heads.

Re: Dyno #'s for a stock LS3 right here.

This news makes me want a Camaro more & more! 387rwhp is simply amazing, isnt it susposed to be rated at 435hp at the flywheel?

Dosent it already have L92 heads?
Can it get 600HP N/A? Its getting at least 500 with cams, intake, headers and a tune.

And wanna show numbers with the cats on?

Go to Corvette forums.

I believe 600hp will be possible with heads....probably not 600rwhp.

Re: Dyno #'s for a stock LS3 right here.

The L92 heads are probably the best OE versions out there. Not much you can do to improve the flow, they flow a boat load.
Remember, that the original LS7 was supposed to be a hi-po 6.2 V8 making 500.

Those numbers are about right if you figure 12% drivetrain loss. There is a lot of potential in the LS3, I belive its undercammed and there is a LOT of room for power. This is a perfect engine for Camaro.
A near 40hp gain with headers? Shesh! Another 60hp gain with a cam...man.
Cant wait for to see a tune to get it done right.

I wasn't saying anything negative about the Cobra motor because I really like it. The Shelby has 5.4 which is the same model year and also has a supercharger, intercooler and all plumbing so it's not just the 5 year older motor that now seems underpowered. What I was getting at is this motor puts out wicked hp and is super light in comparison which is exactly what you want in a car like this. I'm not an OHC hater and if you look back I was probably the first person on this site touting how good the 3.6 is and that GM needs to get it into a lot more cars if they're to be taken seriously. I'm just psyched about how good this LS3 is turning out to be.

Thanks for posting the dyno numbers. The LS3 sounds like it will be a very strong engine.

Gm rates it at 430hp, or 436hp with the optional Z06 style exhaust.
Usually it's approx. -15% for manuals and -20% for automatics so depending on how you want to do it.

387x15%= 445hp at the crank
