National Rugby League
Friday night baby. Brisvegas Broncos will attempt to stamp their dominance early against the North Queensland Cowboys. And league task masters, the Melbourne Storm take on the on again off again St.George Illawarra Dragons in the season opener. I'll be front and centre of my father in laws 50" plasma. I can't wait to see if Wayne Bennett has come up with some magic formula to get the Dragons season of to a good start.
Whilst I doubt anyone whom has continued to read past the first paragraph wont know this already, Wayne Bennett used to be the coach of (my team) the Brisbane Broncos since their inception in 1988. In that time he has lead them to 6 titles including 2006. This is his first season away. I still kind of want him to win, but only because the Storm knocked us out of the finals last season, in what was hailed as one of the best finals games of the modern era. I still find it hard to watch the footage. Anyhoo fellow Aussies...and anyone else who can be bothered, name your team. For those who don't know one team from another, I'll be posting links to the weekly video highlights so you can cheer from a distance. ![]() NRL Home Storm takes Broncos out in week 2 of the finals 2008 Let's Go Broncos Let's Go! ![]()

Re: National Rugby League
They looked really strong at the end of the year. It was like the rhythm many teams get around mid season. Everything clicked, they were super tough and of course that Reuben Wiki hit up was unbelievable!
Re: Sonni, Yeah mate. That was tragic. ![]()

Re: National Rugby League 2009
GO THE DRAGONS!!!!!![]() ![]() I reckon we should run an informal NRL tipping comp here like we did a few years back. ROUND 1 Fri 13 Mar 2009 Melbourne v St George Illawarra Olympic Park 7:35PM Fri 13 Mar 2009 Brisbane v North Queensland Suncorp Stadium 7:35PM Sat 14 Mar 2009 Warriors v Parramatta Mt Smart Stadium 7:30PM Sat 14 Mar 2009 Cronulla v Penrith Toyota Stadium 7:30PM Sat 14 Mar 2009 Bulldogs v Manly ANZ Stadium 7:30PM Sun 15 Mar 2009 Gold Coast v Newcastle Skilled Park 1:00PM Sun 15 Mar 2009 Sydney Roosters v South Sydney Sydney Football Stadium 3:00PM Mon 16 Mar 2009 Wests Tigers v Canberra Campbelltown Sports Stadium 7:00PM My tips for this weekend are: Dragons Broncos Warriors Bulldogs Sharks Knights Roosters Tigers

Re: National Rugby League
Just found this thread.
I, of course, go for the team in the big RedVee. The mighty, mighty Dragons, although I prefer Saints. I'll tip if anyones keen, pergaps easier to set something up at OzTips? BTW to our US friends Rugby league is played (in a minor way) down the East Coast of the US (like Aus!). Rumours of a professional level comp being formed over the top of the current lessthanSemi-professional comp. Current teams in the AMNRL are (in order of 08 finish): AMNRL 2008 Aston DSC Bulls New Haven Warriors Jacksonville Axemen Connecticut Wildcats New York Knights D.C. Slayers Fairfax Eagles Bucks County Sharks Philadelphia Fight Northern Raiders Anyone live in those areas? I'm sure you didn't know you had a Rugby League team. ![]() I'll have the Slayers, though the most professional seems to be the Jacksonville Axemen.
