My issue is not with the seat belt chime as such, but that it starts as soon as you turn the ignition on. My normal practise (entirely legal in Victoria) is to start the car in my garage, back out of the driveway without a seatbelt, then buckle up before I drive forward. The VY accomodates this nicely, as the chime only starts after you have gone about 20 metres forward.

I would imagine it would be annoying when coupling trailers and the like, when you are in and out of the car a lot while it is running.

Don't get me wrong, this is a great car, but so was the VY/VZ. I would love to try a better spec car. My brother has a Calais V, which I was really impressed with in the short drive I did in it.

I don't notice the belt chime anymore. Not that it ever really bothered me anyway. Wife's never complained about it, and she seem's to complain a lot!!.

[quote=RedHotMike;1346656]I religiously use my seat belt however that chime drives me nuts. I hope Holden understand that if the Falcon is a credible alternative, I will buy one when my VE SS is up for replacement later this year. After talking to a few service managers there are many people who feel the same.

Unless the Wagon sucks me in i will be looking for another ride whem my lease is up also, always have like XR6, will have to see what the lease $$ turn out to be!!

That's what I was thinking. Any particular reason why? Surely its not the Seatbelt chime.

I was also thinking that! Kinda scary... the Holden is what, 2 years old? If it's already losing die-hard fans now there's not much hope of it over the next few years. And here we were all excited to be getting it in Pontiac dress... instead of a world-class sports sedan we're getting some second-rate snooze mobile with horrid plastics and an annoying buzzer?!? Great! :P

Nah!!!

The "defectors" want to go in Australian automotive history as one of the few in Australia to drive the last locally made Falcons!!!

Probably, all jokes aside, the vehicle to them is just a means to an end!

Get in, put on the seat belt, turn up the ghetto blaster, turn on the ignition, start the engine and if the the 3 red lights go out on the dash, she'll be right and drive!

Re: My VE Commodore Omega Review

It goes back today. Bromwyn's car is still not finished, but if we return it today we can survive over Easter without a car which then gives us 3 more days next week.

Here are a couple of other things I like:
- when you increase speed via the cruise control (going from a 60 zone to an 80 zone for example), the speed increase is linear, and it stops increasing when you release the lever. In the VY it increments in 3kmh lots.
- The fuel filler cap is on a cable so you can't lose it (just like my 1989 Subaru...).

Yeah that's it, just get in and drive it, Is there really 3 red lights on the dash?

If it was just a car to drive to work i'd be driving something much cheaper to lease than a VE. I have always liked the XR6 so the next lease will be a toss up between the XR6 and a Berlina Sportswagon

Re: My VE Commodore Omega Review

I have not had the car for a few days now. It's funny, but none of the things that I found reason to complain about seem important now. The VE is simply an extremely competent car.

Thats good.
A guy at work has a VE Lumina that replaced an Acclaim wagon (he has had at least 4 Acclaim wagons in a line before this). I spoke to him when he first got it and he was raving about how good it is and how much better than the previous Commodores.
Good news is I checked again last week and he still loves it.
