Re: My Pictorial of the 2008 Melbourne Motor Show (Coupe60, W427, Sportwagon etc)
I can't remember if I mentioned this or not. My home back onto the escarpment and as such I have a lot of wild life running around my back yard... and house!
I get a lot of possums, brush turkeys, blue tounge lizards, water dragons, wallabies and deer, but I also have heaps of spiders and snakes. I have found quite a few young diamond pythons around the yard, but one night last year the missus calls me into the back room post hast. Here is this 2' long python give the dog a dirty look on the carpet! I just picked him up and placed him back in the bush. Haven't seen many since then, but two weeks ago there was a 5'6" to 6' long diamond python resting on the side fence near the back door! Bloody huge!!! He had a native rat curled up in it's tail so it was in no rush to leave. I got some pic's on the mobile, but I can't get it and this PC talking. Bugger of a thing! After reading about that python that stalked, killed and swallowed that Chihuahua in Queensland the other week I'm glad my little Foxy is an inside dog. ![]() No Chazwazzas up this way though. They are mainly found near sugar cane plantations. ![]() ![]() Diamond Python and his pet Rabbit

Re: My Pictorial of the 2008 Melbourne Motor Show, plus Aussie wildlife discussion
I had a friend who drove back from Mildura to melbourne and when he got out of his car a tiger snake decided it was time for him to exit the vehicle. he was a lot slower than the driver!!!
For Americans tiger snakes are about as unpredictable as a snake can get and are deadly to boot. |

Quote:
My dad had a thrilling experience once. He owned a garage most of his life and when he was young and starting out he had a customer drop off a car that needed some wiring checked under the dash. So dad lays upside down across the seats with his head down into the foot well under the dash with a flashlight to find the wires when suddenly a snake’s head comes out of the darkness behind the dash to greet him nose to nose. Well he reckons he never exited a car so fast upside down. He closed the doors and rang the customer to tell him he had a snake in his car. The customer said to him. "Oh I guess I should have told you about Bob. He's my pet Carpet Snake and sleeps in the car". Apparently dad also had as strong opinion on whether the guy should have warned him about "Bob".
