Do you guys have the VW Passat wagon? The current one has to be one of the best looking wagons.

Yes, we do & yes, it does look very nice.

Sportswagon for me. Just love them. Don't care about snow, hate the cold. I'd rather have a good ol Aussie RWD for my driving, which is ironic seeing how I drive a Captiva but thats because I need 6 seats.
Just drove up a 'road', dirt, in the rain, narrow (thought I may have been on someones driveway!), windy, steep in places. Stock grazing, kangaroos (live), wombat (dead ) gates closed (on a public road). Got out and thought 'I'm glad I had the Cappy', then thought 'but a Holden Commodore (or Falcon) would do the job 99% of the time'.

Re: Holden Sportwagon Vs. Mondeo Wagon

Well it has to be the Sportswagon, it does everything well.
* It handles extremely well
* It has a good turn of pace
* It Tows with ease
* It's as safe as houses with sensational levels of grip.
* It sensational to look at

If only i can get the keys of my missus i might be able to drive it every now and then

Re: Holden Sportwagon Vs. Mondeo Wagon

I voted for the Mondeo wagon, but if I had the choice that also included the VW Passat wagon, then I'd be going for the Passat wagon hands down. Ok, I am a badge snob, I'm a smallist, and I love my Euros, I also tend to lean towards anything that has a VW badge . Even the Renault Laguna and Skoda Octavia wagons look very nice to me...

In my eyes, the Mondeo wagon looks better, BUT, the SS Sportswagon will also turn my head. If only there was a Mondeo XR5T wagon!!

I really couldn't give a rats a*** if I get pulled along or pushed along. This RWD V FWD w*** fest thing just goes over my head!! For me, it's all about economy, reliability, practicality, looks and safety, something that works for me. I would never buy a Falcon/Commodore sized vehicle, I have no need for something of that size. Mondeo/Passat size is about as big as I would ever go. If I wanted something bigger, I'd go for a Renault Grand Scenic dCi - turbo diesel.

I"ve always been a bit of a black sheep though.... I mean look at my current rides, a VW and a SEAT!!

Re: Holden Sportwagon Vs. Mondeo Wagon

I do like the Skoda wagons. Even the 1.8 turbo has mid range to lean on and the sedan handles very well (tyres too skinny however).

I admit to having a thing for the Passat as well, but certainly not stong enough to take one over a sportwagon. I appreciate RWD, especially the balance, but it makes the most sense in larger cars. Usually FWD= crap turning circle (note I said usually, because I drove the Mondeo hatch and its turning circle was actually quite good) which is a pretty poor idea for a family vehicle, at least in Australian car parks anyway. There's one mother who drives a Hyundai iLoad at my kids school and it is ridiculous watching her try and park that thing and whilst her's is the worst example, generally speaking, she's not on her pat malone.

If I had the choice I would probably go for the Territory turbo.
