Cops are using Holden/Ford Utes as Hwy Patrol cars now.

So I'm teaching a mate of mine how to drive a manual car and we are trundling along the Centenary Hwy in Brisbane and we come up next to a Ford FG XR6T Ute. I look inside and it's kitted out with all the Police gear ala computer attached to the dash. Next thing we know the guy switches on the lights and pulls over the car in front of him.

I didn't know they were using utes as patrol cars now?! How am I supposed to identify them on the roads if they begin using different models?

They've been using them for a while. I've seen SV6/Omega/SS/Calais wagons and Utes unmarked driving around. There is a voodoo coloured ute in my town and a couple of silver sports wagons getting around. All have 20% visibility tint on them too which makes it even harder to distinguish them. Also i was told that Sydney and Melbourne police have bought a small number of F6 and GTS cars to use as undercover highway patrol cars. Wouldn't surprise me if this was true, I know the Sydney coppers were testing F6 BF's a while back.

Careful.. its not just the locals they are using, I got done by 2 coppers in a VW Passat R36.

Yeah, they have some weird stuff in Brizvegas, Fish. Brown Accord a few months ago. I also have seen a gazziliion unmarked Aurions (but still, they are technically locals)....technically.
