Re: Booming Nostalgia: Immaculate Walkinshaw VL Commodore Group A Sold For $87,000!

Charity EH Raises $20K

CarPoint Editor

www.carpoint.com.au

Restored by disadvantaged youth, an EH Holden wagon has sold at auction for double its original estimated worth.

A two-year restoration project initiated by Peter Brock in June 2006 has raised $19,750 for charity at Shannons Melbourne Winter Auction.

Brock launched the project a matter of months prior to his untimely death in a motor racing accident.

The Whitelion Young Lions team restored the 1963 EH Special Station Wagon at Penfold City Holden's Burnley (Victoria) premises, aided and mentored by volunteers coordinated at the Holden dealership.

Shannons originally estimated the grey and white Holden, featuring a period sun-shade and red vinyl trim, to be worth in the range of $8000 to $12,000.

Net proceeds from the sale will go back to the Whitelion charity to further the group's work in the community, providing young people leaving custody and out-of-home care with the skills and confidence to make their way in the world.

Festival Muscle Cars Stolen

Chris Gable
11 June 2008
www.wheelsmag.com.au

Thieves have stolen prime muscle cars involved in the weekend's Wintersun Festival on the Gold Coast.

Three of the desirable muscle cars taking part – or destined to take part – in the weekend’s Wintersun Festival on Queensland’s Gold Coast have been stolen. One didn’t even make it to the Gold Coast and was stolen en-route.

Billed as “Australia’s Leading Rock & Roll Nostalgia Retro Event”, the Wintersun Festival is said to have drawn almost 1500 hot rods, custom and classic cars.

According to the www.goldcoast.com.au website, thieves used seat belts cut from Rob Anderson’s 1971 XY GT Falcon to drag it away in the early hours of the morning, probably to a waiting tow truck. The rare Zircon Green GT – one of only two cars said to have left the factory in that colour – was stolen from the Coolangatta resort he was staying at.

In a plea for information emailed to various classic car fans Australia-wide, his son Jason described the thieves as “low life”. He said the thieves broke into a locked garage then broke the car’s steering lock, brake and clutch padlock. The car, usually garaged at Narrabri, was his father’s “pride and joy”, he said.

According to www.goldcoast.com.au Glen and Laurie Hamilton’s Vedora Green, gold-striped 1970 HT GTS Monaro was stolen at Tewantin, near Noosa, last week. The Hamiltons were staying with a friend on their way to the Wintersun Festival when the car was stolen from the friend’s driveway during the night.

Re: Booming Nostalgia: Motoring Festival Muscle Cars Stolen

Aside from being ****ing scumbags for stealing a car in the first place, why would they steal 1 of only 2 in the world? You can't shift it or sell it. They were just being arseholes.

Own A Piece Of Brock Legend

The Daily Telegraph
30 October 2008
www.carsguie.com.au

If you've got a spare $600,000, we've got a car for you.

It's a one owner, one-off machine that has only had one driver, and he just happens to be the legendary Peter Brock.

The last Holden that Brock drove, and the last car that he ever competed in on a circuit has been put up for sale.

Owner and old-Holden restorer Phil Munday, who built the 1948/215 Holden from a shell into a retro racing car for Brock to race in 2006, is asking for "$600,000 plus”.

Brock raced the car at the Goodwood historic racing festival in England in 2006.

After returning to Australia several days later he competed in a Targa rally in Western Australia where he was killed in a racing crash.

Spokesman Tim Pemberton says it is an unique car, particularly for Brock fans.

"He is the only bloke who drove it,” he says.

"And it's personally signed by Brock on the roof."

"It's his last Holden and his last circuit car."

But is it worth $600,000?

"It's hard to put a price on these things. It's worth what people are prepared to pay,” Pemberton says.

"But, Peter Brock memorabilia is selling extremely well at the moment."

Re: Booming Nostalgia: Underbelly Holden HK Monaro Up For Auction

Underbelly Holden HK Monaro Auction

Neil McDonald
Herald Sun
15 June 2009

A rare Holden HK Monaro used in the hit television series Underbelly is tipped to fetch up to $160,000 when it goes to auction next month.

The brilliant blue metallic coupe was made famous in a recent episode of the series.

It goes under the hammer at Shannons classic car auction at the Sydney Showgrounds on July 12.

The Holden HK Monaro GTS 327 is considered a classic and has only 89,000 miles (143,000km) on the clock.

In its heyday the Monaro was a powerful Bathurst race car, winning its first Bathurst enduro just after its launch in 1968.

Delivered new by Stacks Holden in Rose Bay, the two-owner metallic Monaro was build number 312 of what is now one of the country's most collectable muscle cars.

Shannons describes the coupe as showroom perfect.
