I don't see a Kappa being stretchable to the point of supporting a four door, or even a couple with a real back seat. They showed us the Curve and the (please, please, please build it!) Nomad on a 12 inch stretch of the Soltice chassis. Even stretched 12 inches, they were still TINY, Mini sized cars. Somehow I doubt that you can add more than 12 inches to a chassis without really upsetting the entire equation.

Hence, my conclusion: there's not going to be a small RWD sedan coming off the Kappa platform.

But I sure do hope they're going to prove me wrong.

This Torana is "related" to the 71-77 Vega, it's obvious.
The original 4 cyl. Torana was basically just a re-badged Vauxhall Viva, but then Holden stretched the front and installed their 2250 to 3300 in-line 6's and then 253 and 308 V8's in the next series which was pretty much their own design.

I wish this show would come out soon...I want more info on the XP54!!!

If it can hold a V8, which IMO I hope it does, this could turn into a very intersting next few months.

V-Car: What's the car above your name in your posts? Is it the one in your sig? Any larger pictures?

It reminds me of a Chevy Monza from the 70's, which for me is a very good thing. Those were great-looking cars.

Was the Holden Torana/Sunbird the same as Pontiac's?

Gday Melvin, the car is the one in my sig...its a 2001 Holden Calais, basically the 4 door sedan that the Monaro/GTO was based on.
It may look familiar to you as its slightly larger, and distantly related to the Catera.
Sorry about the quality of the pics, but they are only from my phone cam.

No, they just used the name from the Pontiac...the Sunbird was the 4 cylinder version of the Torana.

Thanks, V-car. That is a very smooth looking car - I like. I particularly like how it looks under the hood.

I hope they build the Torana. If they can size it like the original (VB-VL) Commodores it would be very useful at a smaller size than the current Commodore. Must be V6 & V8 , how about 2.8, 3.2 & 3.2Turbo V6's plus 5.0 &/or 5.3 V8's. 4 Door plus coupe.
I'm dreaming I guess, but i'm going to try to get to the Sydney motor Show for a look.
Who knows, the coupe version could come to the States as the new Camaro / Firebird?
