Re: New Holden Monaro Program Depends On Exports - New Pontiac GTO?

I think the sad truth is if c60 goes ahead it will be built alongside g8 at oshawa and aussies will get em shipped over, I think the NA market will sell more than the aust /nz market so thats my reasoning. end of the day its a coupe based on the current everymans car as monaro has always been

Re: New Holden Monaro Program Depends On Exports - New Pontiac GTO?

For Us To See This Car It Has To Be Badge As A Vauxhall Gt0 Send It To England And The Middles East For The Middle East It Should Be Sold Under Csv But They Will Have To Be The Upper Spec Modles Like A Hsv And The Biggest Engine They Can Put In It-pontiac Gto Sell In America And Have A Base Model Then A Gxp Version -holden Monaro Sell In Ozzy- N.z Of Course And They Should Sell As A Luxury Buick In China And Any Where Else They Can Make Some Money For Gm And Holden What Do U Guys Think Because If They Only Sell It In Ozzy And America It Won't Get Built

Re: New Holden Monaro Program Depends On Exports - New Pontiac GTO?

If this car really is an option and is the ONLY OPTION for Pontiac here in N.A., then there's really no debate about the question. It needs to happen, ALREADY! Pontiac is GM's performance division, and it needs a proper flagship car. This couldn't be all that bad. I would prefer a smaller nimbler, modern day Firebird, but this don't appear to be an option. A version of this Monaro is something, and that's better than nothing!

Re: New Holden Monaro Program Depends On Exports - New Pontiac GTO?

FWIW, I love my '06 GTO...and there's not a day that I'm out driving it where I don't get asked a lot of questions or receive a lot of comments on the car (mostly positive).

That being said, I'd love to see a new LS3-powered Coupe-60-inspired GTO.

Hey, I'm 45 and I love the old GTO's as much as anyone (my uncle had one bad-ass '70 Judge), but last I checked it's the 21st Century now...time to move on. I hate the retro look on cars. This would make one bad-ass, 21st-Centruy GTO.

Sell a v-6 version as a g8 coupe, then the fire-breating v8, (aggressively styled) as the top option GTO. Killing 2 birds with one stone, as the gto mainly came as a top option in its heyday.

Even the Corvette has an optional exhaust that opens up at higher rev to free breathing. So I really don't know what you mean by a hunning corvette. They can speak quite loudly when they rev up.
Muffing the exhaust on a gto, is against the whole point of this car. If you want quiet luxury, buy a cadillac sts or dts.
If they keep or improve the exhaust setup from the 05 and 06's, then there will be nothing to worry about. A 05' goat is quiet when not revving but at wot is sick period_.

Agreed. It's not a Lexus, or a Buick. It's (hopefully) a Pontiac.

Having driven a Mercedes SL before, the engine is pretty audible, even at idle. At least with the top down.

Presumably, should it get here, it would be more sport, and less luxury. Buick and Cadillac can handle the smooth, quiet, luxurious cars.

Have a DI V6 version called Le Mans. LS3 GTO. LS8 (detuned LS9) GTO Judge. Probably not possible unless it goes to Oshawa.

Re: New Holden Monaro Program Depends On Exports - New Pontiac GTO?

G8 coupe would be the safest bet, but I'm among the few that would like to see it wear the GTO name again.

G8 GTO could be the LS3 version instead of using "GXP" on it.

Re: New Holden Monaro Program Depends On Exports - New Pontiac GTO?

The worst thing GM could do to this car in the US is restyle it. It's time GM had Pontiac adopt Holden's styling and color instead of the other way around and fiddling with good cars.

true true, as long as the camaro sells well in the states and is once again (remains) an american icon then I'm happy

Re: New Holden Monaro Program Depends On Exports - New Pontiac GTO?

I'd be cool with it coming over as a GTO but just change the drivers position. I know Pontiac will have to put their styling on it which I guess wouldn't look too bad but the C60 is awesome as is. Owning older musclecars without the b pillar...I don't miss the window rattle. Not such a big issue when new of course but things do wear out. Le Mans with a 3.6 DI would be a great choice if it gets the mileage it should.
