The Holden Commodore Sportwagon has broken cover a week ahead of its official reveal at the 2007 Sydney motor show.

Full details of the forthcoming Holden VE Commodore wagon have leaked days before its official reveal at the 2007 Sydney motor show. And it confirms Drive.com.au's August report that Holden has sexed up the VE Commodore wagon, making it more of a Euro-chic sports wagon than the fleet-friendly load lugger it used to be.

Holden also believes that reinventing the Sportwagon as a more affordable alternative to European wagons from Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz will draw more buyers to the brand.

Officially, the VE-based Commodore wagon Holden will display at the Sydney motor show is a concept only, but, as the leaked pictures show, the Commodore Sportwagon is production ready. Expect only the 20-inch wheels to be dropped for the production model, which goes on sale early in 2008.

For the first time, the wagon will be built on the shorter of the Holden Commodore's two platforms. This should allow Holden the necessary scope to improve the Sportwagon's dynamic abilities to better match its name.

An embarrassing mistake by an enthusiast magazine has exposed HSV’s all-new Maloo ute.

A page from the November 2007 edition of Motor magazine, which revealed the all-new HSV Maloo - as photographed by Helmut Mueller - a week early.
Top-secret details and pictures of the next HSV Maloo have broken cover a week ahead of their planned release due to an embarrassing gaff by Motor magazine.

The enthusiast motoring publication broke an agreement it had with Holden and its performance partner, HSV, not to publish details of the new HSV Maloo before the opening of the 2007 Sydney motor show on October 11.

While Motor has withheld copies of its November issue from newsstands, it’s understood a mistake in the distribution of the magazine resulted in copies being mailed to subscribers a week early, giving thousands of Australians a sneak peek of the new HSV Maloo.

Sydney Motor Show Opens With Ute Tribute

From humble bush workhorse to customised urban style statement with grunt, Australia's hugely cherished ute will be one of the stars of this week's Sydney International Motorshow.

An original 1953 FX Holden utility and its newest sibling, the 2007 VE Holden ute, were parked side by side Tuesday to emphasise 60 evolutionary years at the launch of the new model.

While Australia's love affair with the ute has remained constant since the first one came off the production line 54 years ago, buying trends have shifted dramatically with the release of latest model.

Production of performance ute models now outnumbers production of the standard working ute by three to one, according to Holden.

- Maloo (everyone knows thats coming, so that shouldnt be the big announcement)
- HSV wagon (doesnt seem like a big enough announcement either)
- HSV Corsa VXR (as above)
- GTS-R (LS7 HSV ..... or a supercharged model)
- HSV Coupe (if Holden unveils a Monaro)
- Camaro
- Corvette

1. Wagon (Highly Likely, Might actually be losted in all the hype about the Orion, rather than steal its thunder)
2. Higher Spec LWB (highly possible, but not that interesting)
3. Supercharged SV6 (Possible, unlikely, would be nice though)
4. DI V6 (Next Year Most Likely)
5. Hatchback Commodore (Highly Unlikely)

HSV
1. GTS-R(What else could be the biggest thing in 20 yrs)
2= 20 Anny Clubsports (Not that bigga deals if current info is correct)
3= Maloo (Seen Spy pics already...so no surprises here.... next please )
4+ Supercharged GTS (now that would be the second best thing if there was no GTSR)
5. LS3 (Doubtful, and its nothing to countdown for is it?)

It's the Monaro.

What else could it be that would require this much smoke and
mirrors?? At least a concept.

I know wagons are more popular in Australia(than the US),
but come on.

They are going to get the Monaro out in the public eye
first, before the GTO goes live in Jenuary.

I like the idea of a Alpha-concept shown as the Torana because that could pretty much telegraph an upcoming Pontiac and the bones of future Cadillacs. I see the VE wagon as likely. As much as I'd like to see a VE coupe, I doubt the volume picture is that good right now and probably would work better as a Canadian-sourced product from the Camaro production line.

I sure hope the LS7 gets to live in some HSV products... that's a no-brainer for me. The Stargazer seems unlikely given the LHD-only engineering on the Kappa products.
