It usually means new front and rear lights and bumpers, interior changes sometimes, new wheels, some new colours even drivetrain changes which has been widely suggested for this update

The new HSV E-Series 2, due on sale in September, will use the same 6.2-litre V8 but is expected to consume up to one litre less fuel per 100km. That would reduce consumption to something under 14L/100km, which is still well about the 7.5L/100km-odd for small cars and 10L/100km-odd for six-cylinder large cars.
Why do they continue comparing large performance cars with underpowered small cars? Of course its going to consume more fuel.

Generally as you state - not a 'shell' change but usually mudguards, leading edge of bonnet and light shapes, etc. Can also mean subtle/substantive changes to power-train, etc. I think there will be a concentration on getting 'as green as possible' image out there.

Does anyone else smell a significant shift in editorial brief? Aside from an over reliance on spell checker (about? ), why would they bother pointing out the obvious discrepancy between the economy of the HSV (obviously a performance vehicle) and a small 4 cylinder?

I smell a rat.

I wholeheartedly agree with you - it is that unrelenting drive by smart-arse journalists to ensure that the car-buying public are always made aware of those 'petrol guzzling' sixes and eights that are made by Holden and Ford.

Always sinking their boot in at every opportunity.

Further more, name a vehicle that has generated the same amount of media praise, not to mention a high penetration of members (and mods) on this very site. The G8 is a cracking vehicle that was aimed at the very core of Pontiac core values (or at least, what they used to be) and hit its target with more accuracy than anything the Arrowhead has produced in decades (though some may argue that the plastic fantastic Firebird was also true to the cause). For it to actually get within earshot of its original sales target, was nothing short of impressive.

The G8 was axed on the back of the death of Pontiac, not because it isn't practical. It's a four door sedan for goodness sake, with a massive boot, 2000lb towing capacity, and, class leading handling and ESP. How much more practical do you want?

I read somewhere that Atomic is now off the table. Makes sense if Poison Ivy is coming into play.
Yet to hear about these tested colours:
Hazard-

Alto-

Alto looks really good. Don't know what it is about it but it just looks clean and sharp. I like it!

"3 thumbs up" reminds me of a patient I had who had 4 thumbs (for real). He used to work at a bakery, and the joke when he dropped a loaf, was that he was all thumbs!

Gotta hand it to the Australians. They have horsepower wars going on like the US did way back when. I wish we still were!

Compare apples to oranges so the reader can't get a valid impression of the improvement? Maybe they could compare them to the numbers Top Gear (UK) got when they raced the F430, R8, 911GT3 etc with only one gallon (UK) of fuel in the tank... some of them only got about 2 or 3 miles per gallon. Outrageous!

These are people that want the car to babysit their children so they won't have to.

Re: HSV turns up the heat

I really like that Poison Ivy color. My alma mater uses the name "Mean Green" for the sports teams, and if I still lived in that town, I'd definitely get noticed driving a Poison Ivy colored G8! Very cool.
