But, if the Colorado can get 18/24 city/highway (I4) & the best non-hybrid Silverado (XFE model) can get 15/22, it kind of makes the Ute's ratings seem not too bad. Based on the G8 sedan (the Ute should weigh less--no backseat, no roof behind the front seats, etc.), the V6 model makes 17/25. Take a 1 MPG hit on city economy, but gain 1 MPG on highway. And to think, that's the
base engine comparison. The Colorado's I5 (still not as powerful as the G8's V6) loses 1 MPG on both measurements. The Silverado's 6.2 V8 has a rating of 13/19. So, for those that want to have power to spare (without real work truck/family hauling needs), the Ute makes a case. Think of all of the possible buyers that are young & want something sporty without getting horrible gas mileage.
