Holden on in the USA: Holden Efijy wows Woodward Dream Cruise
Just found this on news.com.au
Holden on in the USA CRUISING the streets of Detroit, this reincarnation of Australia's legendary FJ Holden was a show stopper at the annual Woodward Dream Cruise yesterday. Voted North America's 2007 concept car of the year, the Efijy was the main attraction among the 40,000 muscle cars, street rods and custom vehicles tearing down Woodward Ave. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599...l?from=mostpop Holden Hot Rod Leads Aussie Charge At Woodward GM Holden Limited 17 August 2007 www.holden.com.au GM Holden’s 21st Century hot rod reincarnation of Australia’s most iconic car, the FJ Holden, will lead the charge at the 13th Annual Woodward Dream Cruise tomorrow in Detroit, USA. The award-winning EFIJY showcar will make its Woodward Dream Cruise debut at a pre-event cruise at Coney Island on Friday 17 August, driven by its designer, Holden’s Richard Ferlazzo. EFIJY is a 5.2 metre radical pillarless custom coupe powered by a 480kW supercharged six-litre V8 engine. It will join four of the automotive stars from the blockbuster movie Transformers at a special GM exhibit at Athens Coney Island on Saturday, 18 August. The Pontiac G8 performance car, to be built at GM Holden’s Adelaide manufacturing plant, will also be on show. GM Holden Chief Designer and EFIJY project leader Richard Ferlazzo said piloting EFIJY at the Woodward Dream Cruise would fulfill a long-term aspiration. “As a hot rod and custom car fanatic, participating in the iconic Woodward Dream Cruise is a great honour,” he said. "There is no venue in the world more suitable than Woodward to showcase EFIJY. Displaying EFIJY here alongside thousands of outrageous and unique cars, with such a receptive audience, is a great thrill. "People get a real buzz out of seeing a car like this produced by a mainstream manufacturer such as Holden." The EFIJY concept car was first unveiled at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney in October 2005 and has gathered a growing legion of fans wherever it has been displayed. Earlier this year, it was awarded the 2007 North American Concept Car of the Year. The Woodward Dream Cruise is the world’s largest one-day celebration of car culture. More than 40,000 hot rods, muscle cars, custom, collector and special interest vehicles will be displayed, with crowds of 1.7 million expected to flock to the birthplace of America’s automotive industry. GM will for the first time offer multimedia coverage of the Woodward Dream Cruise from links at www.gm.com beginning 16 August. too bad it has ZERO relevance here in the states for GM and painfully shows how they've further lost touch with America's own automotive history. ![]()

Out of all the concepts I have seen, this is the one that in one way or another needs to show up!
Build it off the Camaro and stick it in a Buick dealership, build it is Australia and ship it around the world to keep the factory at capacity, or build a 7 figure Cadillac and make this its two door off shoot.

Every time I see that car, I can't help but think that this is the styling direction either Buick or Pontiac should seriously explore to injection some real excitement into their brand. Absolutely breathtaking!

Re: Holden on in the USA: Holden Efijy wows Woodward Dream Cruise
I think they should build it, like in Lansing at the performance build center like they did the SSR. An extremely limited production run, some going to Buick, some going to Holden, would be great to build up excitement with both brands! Style like that never goes out of fashion!

Re: Holden on in the USA: Holden Efijy wows Woodward Dream Cruise
We had this car at the Perth Car Convention 2006... and is a beast i shall remember forever... to be able to admire her up close is certainly an experience that leaves a smile everytime....
It's certainly interesting watching the changes as the cars leave Aus as Holdens to be re incarnated in the US and vice versa... You certainly know how to make these cars look so sexy... would do anything to be able to afford an import back to Aus... (great forum btw....) |

Re: Holden on in the USA: Holden Efijy wows Woodward Dream Cruise
As someone who got a chance to see this car in person, it is one of the most beautiful cars I've ever laid eyes on. I'm glad it's not hiding in the corner of some warehouse in Australia and is being out and about for the world to enjoy.
