Holden has confirmed pricing for the new range-topping Barina CDX, previewed at last month’s Australian International Motor Show.

Offering a host of features including the all-new Holden MyLink premium infotainment system, Barina CDX will be available with a new six-speed automatic transmission in both hatch and sedan and recommended retail price of $20,490 and $20,990 respectively.

Holden Marketing Manager for Small, Medium and Electric cars, Emma Pinwill said pricing for the new model represents great value for the small car buyer.

“At only $2,500 more than the equivalent CD model, the CDX represents great value and is loaded with a high level of specifications and features.”

Holden MyLink offers a seven-inch colour touch screen radio capable of displaying music, videos, photos and contacts for hands-free calling. Launching with the StitcherTM Smart Radio embedded application, the Holden MyLink system will be supported in the future with additional apps that offer drivers added information and entertainment options, such as Pandora® Internet Radio, TuneIn Radio and BringGo Navigation.

The Holden MyLink Infotainment system operates by integrating the owner’s compatible smartphone and stored media – via Bluetooth, plug-in outlet or USB – with the radio. This lets owners enjoy simple, safe and personalised connectivity while their smartphone is stowed.

Holden MyLink launches with the StitcherTM Smart Radio embedded application. Good to see automakers running with the apps revolution. Embedded GPS is an endangered species just as it was getting to lower entry vehicles.

It will be interesting to see how the apps running off mobile data will work out in Australia. Streaming radio could cause issues with people with low data plans and we as a whole have less appealing plans than America or the UK.

I hope they release some new photos soon. That one was doing the rounds when the Barina first came out.

In the US over the past two years wireless providers have started to place caps on monthly bandwidth (just as landline ISP have). Though you still have some company that stand by unlimited downloads, they tend to be the smaller companies now.

IMHO this has come in the US as an act against IP based tv services like Netflix and others related to that. Pretty much most people might not realize this but the future of paid prescription tv service in the US is changing and will never be the same. This is an attempt at these companies that provide both internet access and subscription based TV service to retain customer by making it cheaper to use subscription based tv. The trend pretty much comes down to younger people who A. do not have the spare money and B. are willing to try newer things are not jumping on with tv service providers. They order internet and that is it, they watch their entertainment via the internet.

Due to the cost to run lines and maintain those lines a given area needs to have a certain level of saturation in order for that area to be profitable. The fewer people you have in a given area who use your service the more overhead cost the ones who you do have are require to carry. In other words you can not install $100,000 equipment in an area just to service 10 people. Wow did I get off topic.....

Right now i'm able to get about 7mb DL and 2mb UL using 3G

Pretty decent really considering it's just a phone

In Australia most of the phone companies are greatly reducing data limits on their plans. The "golden age" was when the iPhone 4GS was released. I'd say most people would have around 1GB data per month.

I agree, I'm no fan of leather or fake leather covering. Especially in Qld. I like the concept of MyLink and the extra features like the 17" alloys will certainly make the car look better. I'd like to see an interior shot. I hope they've gotten rid of that horrible grey trim on the dash.

Auto only probably is the market for this car in reality

Leatherette is pretty standard fare nowdays as well

I know it is common amongst most brands but does it really cost that much extra to put an auto in a car to justify charging $2,000 extra for it?

I am a Holden man and due to my loyalty I unfortunately purchased a TM manual Barina. It is crying out for a 6 speed manual as it is doing 3200 rpm at 100km/h.
