Great to have a participant on board. Looking forward to seeing how these cars perform in the challenge. All the best.

Great event. Keep us posted and drive safely - watch out for the moving roadside furniture

Huge second to that. This is a new thing for GMI, and we're looking forward to the play-by-play. Best wishes!

Keep an eye out for Crocs out for a walk. They caught a 4.7metre salty 30K inland -that makes him the length of a Captiva -Snappy Tom!
Good luck with the drive.

Hey thanks. We've just finished scrutineering and filled the Sportwagon and Cruze. 2.5 hours to kill until the challenge begins.

Our engineers will drive today. I''m hoping to get them to share some comments on GMI over the course of the week.

I've also begun uploading video files and stills pics at our facebook page www.facebook.com/holdenaustralia.

Re: 3.0 SIDI Holden Sportwagon & HSV Maloo R8 To Tackle The 2009 Global Green Challen

Day 2 completed and the official figures are in - 3.0l SIDI Omega Sportwagon achieved 6.19l/100kms!! 33% improvement on the ADR score of 9.3.

Today's drive was from Katherine to Tennant Creek (over 600km). Tomorrow we drive just over 500kms to Alice Springs.

Wish us luck....

Andrea

THat's quite impressive. What speed are you averaging with that result? Also how are the other Holden's/HSV's doing?

That's an awesome figure! You guys are doing some excellent work.

Any stats on how the Cruze is doing?

I believe speeds were around 80km/hr. Teams went as slow as they could within the time limit.

That's 38USmpg, or 44 real (Imperial) MPG.

That's equivalent to the best MPG we got driving the Missus' Astra to Coober Pedy from Uluru sitting on 80-90km/h. Not bad, from a 3800lb wagon.

Yeah, it would be interesting to see its all up weight (including crew and their goodies too).

Probably nudging 4000lb

What revs is it turning at 80-90 km/hr with the 6 speed - does it actually get to 6th gear on light throttle at 80-90 km/hr?

Re: 3.0 SIDI Holden Sportwagon & HSV Maloo R8 To Tackle The 2009 Global Green Challen

No problems = top @ 80 would be 1600-1700rpm and converter lock is 67km/h. I'd say it'd sit on 1:7 or 1:8 grades in top @ >80km/h if you are easy on the throttle. In non-sport mode they shift into top as low as 50km/h on light throttle.

Not saying anything about Andrea M's weight (she's actually little-ish ) but I'm sure with their gear and two of them it'd be up around 4100-4200lbs

In a sedan with two of us in hilly backroads county I hit 39mpg @ average of 86km/h, so on the flat 44 would be doable.

That's great! It will be interesting to see where the Sportwagon finishes compared to the other mainstream makes.
