They say it's what is missing maybe right now?.
Who needs a diesel powered car in the Middle East? They pay 45 cents a gallon for gasoline.

Demand in europe for diesel is through the roof, there isn't enough global capacity to satisfy demand. If our refineries (which don't make all that much diesel to begin with) can get a hefty price in europe, guess where that tanker is going?

Re: GM's New 4.5L V8 Duramax Turbo-Diesel: Will The Holden Commodore Get It?

Given the torque rating of this motor i dont think it will end up in passenger cars without being detuned somewhat, 705Nm is way more than a normal passenger car needs, but is still nice to have.

Maybe GM need to make a 4.0Ltr version of this motor for cars, then you could have the 2.9 V6 for medium cars and as a entry level diesel for large cars and have the 4.0Ltr for large cars and the SUV's and maybe the CUV's to, given there extra size and weight, has GM said what the weight of this motor is since people seem to be worried about the weight of it?

If diesel weren't so expensive in this country, then I'd definately go with either the 2.9L or 4.5L diesels. Much better on mileage and bottom end torque than the gas engines.

I feel similarly to you, WishIhadatruck, though I prefer my 2.9 Liter diesel to be housed in a CTS Coupe! 250 horsepower/184 kW and 406 lb.-ft. of torque/550 Nm sounds just about right, no?

It would work great in a CTS Coupe as well but I want a large 4 door sport sedan myself. I think 250 horsepower and 406 lb.-ft. of torque is enough for even full size suv's unless you are in a huge hurry. Very comparable to the output of the 6.5L TD of a decade ago and look at what types of vehicles that went into. My how things have changed, and for the better!

This would be a perfect engine for a high end. 119"wb Cadillac exported to Europe, where Diesel cars get tax breaks and the fuel tax is lower.

Nothing compares with turbo and torque in a diesel when pulling stumps.

That is what I thought. Is the S/7 available with a diesel? If not we have instant exclusivity.

Regardless of how well this engine works, I'll bet it makes Ward's "Top Ten Ugliest Engines" list.

Seems like the 2.9L V6 would be a much better fit for Zeta (especially if you're going for fuel economy).

I can't imagine this thing in a Commodore, but it is a good compromise for Holden's insistence that they don't want to lose any performance to gain economy because in their eyes, thats a loss.

I could see this in a HSV Captiva, that would be awesome, 231kW 700Nm (maybe detuned to about 200kW 650Nm) holy s***:eek :
