GMI's 'MonaroSS' Future Monaro/GTO CGI's Make The Press!!!

Judge For Yourself

CarPoint
28 July 2007
www.carpoint.com.au

A GTO that would appeal to Americans and Aussies.

One of the stars of online forum GM Inside News has created design studies for a prospective Holden Monaro/Pontiac GTO. The artist, who goes by the moniker 'MonaroSS', has contributed some masterful works to the online debate concerning a Monaro/GTO replacement.

The four impressions feature a standard Monaro, a HSV GTO, and red and black versions of a Pontiac GTO 'Judge'.

All three images combine elements from the forthcoming Chevrolet Camaro (around the 'C' pillar and rear quarter panels) and some styling cues from the VE Commodore ('A' pillar and front quarter panels). In the case of the HSV and the Pontiac iterations, the split grille marks a return to earlier era styling, although the HSV in question was as recent as the VZ ClubSport.

The dual stripes along the lower flanks and the VE-style vent in the front quarter panels hark back to the HT Monaro GTS.

For those who were unaware, the next Chev Camaro will be built in Canada on a shorter wheelbase version of the VE Commodore's floorpan and this car is a chance to come to Australia.

The tie-in with Pontiac stems from Holden supplying the Commodore to the American subsidiary as the Pontiac G8 and prior to that, the V2 and VZ Monaros as the Pontiac GTO for 2004 through to 2006.

Congratulations MonaroSS! Well done!
I also see your all-blue 2008 FPV Falcon CGI has also been floating around the net too.

these are awesome, although personally, the cabin is probably too rounded compared with the much more angular feel of the rest of the car.

Where's the Firebird? Got a feeling the new GTO is going to be a "Dud!" This is not where Pontiac needs to be going. If this is the new GTO, once again we can slap a bowtie on it and call it a bloated Cavalier! What is up with all of these politically correct designs? This in no way breaks any new ground in design. Pontiac needs a new Firebird like yesterday that is not conservative like this is. In GM's stable, Pontiac needs to be different from GM's other brands, and this is not the right direction!

Re: GMI's 'MonaroSS' Future Monaro/GTO CGI's Make The Press!!!

Good job trying to give up a hopeful glance of what GM-Holden may have in the makings for us... however, just one question.... Why does the Holden have the Pontiac's wheel combination on it and the Pontiac in turn have the Holden's wheel combination going for it?! My opinion though... I rather have the Holden's style much much more so than that of the Pontiacs...

Re: GMI's 'MonaroSS' Future Monaro/GTO CGI's Make The Press!!!

Nice design, but one is a blantant rebadge of the other, which is not good at all. Its Monaro/GTO '04-'06 all over again!

I much rather have a Firebird(Formula/Trans Am or even FireHawk) w/a V8 than a '04-'06 or '09/'10 GTO!! Unless its a 65-67 or a '69 GTO - An authentic(stock) "Judge" model.

Re: GMI's 'MonaroSS' Future Monaro/GTO CGI's Make The Press!!!

.

Hi guys, just got home. Had a quick look this morning when Ken Gratton sent me the link to the article. When I was asked to use my pics as an 'artists illustration' for an article I didn't know it was actually about my pics or that Ken would call me a star.

But then who am I to argue with people’s opinions.

My cousin read the article and asked if the SS on the end of Monaro stood for Super Star.

Odin on the other thread said that he thought he saw some more of my pics on TV on Network Nine at the end of the Car Show (not these). I did give Ken other pics but nothing was said about TV if Odin is right, (not that I would mind) and of course the same company is involved with the Car Show and Carpoint.com.au.

Ken may be able to fill in more about that.

BTW Lets have some large pics to look at.
