Possibly, or as GM consolidates it products, the fact that they would be reducing product lines and sharing tech cars may actually be cheaper to manufacture and in the kindness of their hearts GM may pass that onto the consumer.

Why the hell would you need Chevrolet here?
The market is small.
Already too many brands.
The cheap daewoos are already being sold.
Why destroy 60 years of history and goodwill.

Would be DUMB.

If they are exporting HSV's as Vauxhall Monaro's, why not make the Camaro a HSV..better ring to it than Chevrolet and fits in with the performance image of HSV. Also HSV would do a special hot version of the Camaro.

If Gmm wants a world brand then it should be GM. Are they scared of their own reputation. I remeber the GM Mark of Excellence thing. Boeing had Pride in Achievement.
I think that the only Chevy that fits easilly in to Australia is the one that just not worth importing due to the numbers and that is the Corvette. I dnot think the Camaro fits these days, five years ago sure but times they are changing.
Sure we get Chevy badged daewoo's here in China but when the Buick Sail changed to a Chevy beat (or whatever) I dont think too many people noticed other than enthusiasts who are an extremely small part of the market here.
I too fear that there is still the very real potential of GM being boken up in the next 10 years and if so Holden have to show they can operate as an "island" company as well as part of a global group before anyone would buy them.

Re: GM Refuses To Rule Out Chevrolet Joining Cadillac, Hummer & Saab Down Under

I said that I think that MonaroSS is correct in his assumption that the 2 level dealerships will happen.
However I do not think it is a necessary action.
1. Holden is the value and up brand in Australia.
2. Chevrolet is not known in his part of the market here. Would be better to use a totally unknown brand if you were going to go down this path. Saturn or Geo or Mugwump.
3. If Chev Camaro is going into the GM Premium channel, seems strange to have a GM Value channel called Chevrolet.
4. Holden does not even now have enough product to compete head to head with Toyota. Seems counterproductive to think about another channel / brand whilst this remains the case.
5. Light trucks & vans, plus 4x4s fit under Holden and help to redress 4. Heavy trucks and vans can go under another brand, Chevy trucks or better yet GMC. Perhaps rebadged Internationals & Navistars.

Make Mine Holden.
