FPV Unveils Australia's Own GT 40
Jez Spinks 2 March 2007 www.drive.com.u FPV's special-edition commemorates not the '60s Le Mans legend but 40 years of the GT nameplate in Australia. And it's tuned for track-day enthusiasts too. Ford Performance Vehicles will sell just 200 of a special Falcon GT that marks the nameplate's 40th anniversary in Australia, but the sportier chassis underneath will be made available to many more buyers. The Falcon GT 40th Anniversay model, unveiled at the Melbourne motor show, follows four decades after the launch of the 1967 XR Falcon GT. But it's more than just a limited-edition paintjob of black with gold stripes (reversing the original's paintwork), because the GT 40th incorporates FPV's new R-Spec handling package. The R-Spec set-up has been developed by Delphi, suppliers of the GT's regular dampers, after a request by FPV's joint owners, Prodrive, which is renowned for its tuning expertise in the world of motorsport - including the running of the Subaru World Rally Championship team.
