Funny you should say that.

Well, my other sister has a JS(?) Vectra (the Olympic edition) 5sp in blue. My wife drove it and then was gungho for a new car. Said the Vectra reminded her of my old Camira.............

True.

We then looked for a new Vectra 2.2, and ended up with the Astra. Wife wouldnt let me get blue as both sisters have blue, so we got black. True again.

Here's a comparison
gee, the Astra diesel is a little underwhelming on economy. Check this out, quick comparo with Captiva diesel and petrol Astra CDX wagon.

less than 1l/100k between the lot of them on combined economy. Hmm?

Like this one? That would be a 1999 JSII Olympic Edition 2.2 5 speed manual. Reminded her of a Camira huh?....I'm not sure how I should feel about that.

^^^ Yep, thats exactly the one. Think it was when they were building them locally.

If it makes you feel any better my Camira was a bloody nice car, until I stacked it.

Re: Finally! Holden Sticks The Diesel In Astra Wagon

The Astra CDTi marked the long overdue re-introduction of the Astra Wagon to NZ as well (Not before time, the Focus has been running circles around the wagon market).

$35,990 for the manual and $36,990 for the Auto.

Compared to $30,890 (No haggle) Focus 1.8 TDCI manual. Though the price is justified by the superior diesel engine and the fact it has electric windows in the back and alloy wheels... I think the Astras best competition would be the just launched Skoda Fabia 1.9 TDI Combi, Skoda being the fastest growing brand in NZ at the moment (And grabbing a lot of fleet sales at the same time) for $33,990 (Manual only)

Re: Finally! Holden Sticks The Diesel In Astra Wagon

Mrs. mak saw an Octavia the other day and actually asked me about it. Apparently it looks pretty good. It was a fairly short conversation when I mentioned that for the same amount you can get a Subaru, but I'm still going to check them out. 1.8TFSI 6M is pretty good for 30 odd k and the economy is pretty impressive too, even in the petrol.

It's on Holdens website, SRi 3 and 5 Door are now 1.8 litres. Oddly Holden NZ still lists it as a 2.2 despite a recent update
