Re: Coupe 60: The Next Monaro Or A Missed Opportunity? The Inside Story
Thank you for reading my mind. The ST will be another SSR and we need product not collector toys

Re: Coupe 60: The Next Monaro Or A Missed Opportunity? The Inside Story
I would much rather see the Coupe 60 come out over here as a G8 GTO to add to the G8 family line instead of having the G8 ST in the American lineup. That is one hot coupe and with that and the Solstice Coupe I might be inclined to be happy for once to not have a Firebird back in the line up.....
However now that I have swallowed my pride and actually said that, GM will NOW bring out a Firebird concept at next year's NAIAS because I am about to give up the fight for the return of the 'Bird...... I guess win-win for me! ![]()

I, however, have been hoping they would spin a small sedan off of Kappa to do exactly that for Pontiac, Holden, and a global Cadillac (ATS?). Using engines no larger than the LNF 2.0L would be plenty. It would take some investment, but GM could also use the opportunity to remedy a lot of the shortcomings in the Solstice/Sky, particularly the undersized trunk, complex folding top mechanism, and cut a few hundred pounds out of the curb weight. |

Re: Coupe 60: The Next Monaro Or A Missed Opportunity? The Inside Story
The Coupe 60 isn't in production nor can it be produced as we see it now. It would be years away. The G8 ST is in production right now and coming off the line. GM can sell it here now.
And personally, I'd rather have the ST. This coupe is nice looking but looks like any number of modern coupes on the road, the ST looks like nothing else on the road. |

The US dollar also makes importing cars from Australia nearly unprofitable. Why GM did not make a Firebird rebadge for Pontiac out of the new Camaro now is beyond me.
