Re: Australian & New Zealand July 2008 Sales Results: Commodore Leads Market

I want Falcon to jump Commodore. It deserves to outsell the commodore. Its a very good car and deserves to outsell Commodore for a few months. Shake up the market, send a warning to Holden, Provide more used Falcons for when i can afford one

Mazda seems to be a real mover in the desirability stakes.

Actually, if you add the Territory and ute to the Falcon numbers, Geelong is actually doing fairly well. 5770 (Commodore + Ute) vs. 5804 (Falcon + Terri + Ute). That has to be putting smiles on faces somewhere...just don't mention the 'e' word. exports shhhh

You're correct. I'd like to know how much profit Ford is giving away without exports.

Re: Australian & New Zealand July 2008 Sales Results: Commodore Leads Market

We never see the true indication of sales with corrola, They come in ebbs ands flows, They are imported and usually are stock piled, So some months they look huge, And others not so.

I was starting to hear rumours of fuel dropping back under $1.. Oil to drop down to $70 P/B.
But they already (big oil company's made sure they hit that on the head, With dropping demand, They know how to keep profit high.

Would have been nice to see if large made a large come back.

You forgot the nearly 400 Statesman + Caprice sales to Holden's tally last month. That puts Holden in front for local sales......as for exports, no contest
Holden blows Ford out of the water

Hmm true, but while Ford slowly continues to gain market share and increase it's sales Y.T.D, Holden is doing the complete opposite, losing market share and watching it's total sales, Y.T.D, slide south.

Can't argue with the figures:

Holden Y.T.D 2008 = 78,271 (-10,191) -11.5%
Ford Y.T.D 2008 = 63,933 (+626) +1.0%

This time last year, Holden was 25,000 sales ahead of Ford, but has seen that figure close to 14,000 sales this year.

Re: Australian & New Zealand July 2008 Sales Results: Commodore Leads Market

NZ Top 10 models

1. Holden Commodore - 340
2. Toyota Corolla - 335
3. Ford Falcon - 334
4. Suzuki Swift - 241
5. Honda Accord - 231
6. Mazda6 - 191
7. Mazda3 - 178
8. Ford Mondeo - 119
9. Toyota Camry - 115
10. Mitsubishi Outlander - 111

Apparently most Camrys are ending up chucked on Rental fleets these days, Commodore and Falcon also trumped the Corolla for private buyer sales.

Why not ? ......everyone else has

For the record, the Fairlane and LTD sold a big fat "0"

The 400 Statesman and Caprices would be making an nice profit margin for Holden too

While it would be nice for Holden to increase their sales, keep in mind they are performing better financially than Ford.

Ford lost $78 million in the last year while Holden lost only $6 million, which is just about damn near break even.
Holden is expected to be back in the black this year.

Both Holden and Ford AUS perform at similar profit levels, you're forgetting Holden has payed for VE and is now back on the track to be profitable again.

Ford is now paying for FG and they are going through what Holden did 1-2 years ago.

Now Add the difference of volume between Holden and Ford and the gap you talk about doesn't exist.

Before commenting on financial performance remember to take more than one financial year into account...
