Re: Australian Fuel News - Liquid Gas Injection Breakthrough
When the Russians launched sputnik in 1957 we decided to get serious and we landed on the moon 12 years later. When we thought Hitler in 1939 might be developing an atom bomb we got serious and had one six years later. We already know how to power vehicles without oil we just need the leadership from the Government/Industry to get er done.

Re: Australian Fuel News
Scrap Fuelwatch!
CarPoint Editor 1 August 2008 www.carpoint.com.au VACC calls for Federal Government to ditch the controversial fuel price monitoring watchdog. The Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC) has declared the Rudd Government's Fuelwatch scheme "flawed from the outset". Speaking on behalf of the Chamber, its Executive Director, David Purchase, had nothing but praise for Pat Walker, the ACCC's Petrol Commissioner who recently announced his resignation from the position for personal reasons. "From our experience, Mr Walker was sincere and genuine in his attempt to tackle the fuel pricing issue," Purchase said. "However, the attempt to implement an Australia-wide Fuelwatch Scheme, based on the Western Australian model, was flawed from the outset, as the focus was fixed at the retail level. Re: Australian Fuel News - VACC Calls For Fuelwatch To Be Scrapped
What a joke! How can consumers realise "transparency in petrol pricing" if the VACC opposes a transparent retail pricing scheme?

Re: Australian Fuel News - VACC Calls For Fuelwatch To Be Scrapped
I have been using a similar thing to "fuel watch", For a few years now..
I always know the price of fuel before i buy, I like the idea of freezing fuel prices, But would welcome them to allow fuel stations to drop prices to compete during the day.

Well of course the VACC would say it is flawed. Their members own service stations (or more correctly these days Fuel Convenience Stores -there is precious little service these days.

Re: Australian Fuel News
Senators Turn Blind Eye To FuelWatch
Robert Wilson 13 August 2008 www.wheelsmag.com.au The Federal Government's scheme to regulate fuel prices is losing support, both from the Public and the Senate. The Federal Government's national FuelWatch scheme seems doomed after losing the support two key independent senators, whose favourable nod was needed to get it passed in the upper house. Family First senator Steve Fielding has joined independent Nick Xenophon in saying he would not support the scheme as it stands. The Government needs the support of the five Green senators and the two independents to get the legislation passed. The Green senators are still undecided, and will wait until the Senate inquiry into FuelWatch is finished. Senator Xenophon said FuelWatch in Wstern Australia had wiped out independent fuel retailers. He also quoted reports from four government departments that said the scheme could lead to increased fuel prices. "I can't support the Government's scheme, it just doesn't make sense," he told ABC Radio. Senator Fielding agreed. “Family First has serious concerns and we are still wanting to understand how it won't push average petrol prices up, and we also want to know how FuelWatch won't squeeze out independents," he told ABC radio. "And until we are satisfied with those two questions, Family First can't support FuelWatch either.” Click here to continue article ![]() |

Re: Australian Fuel News - Senators Turn Blind Eye To FuelWatch
This is there time to stand up and let the country see them, And hold the government to ransom, They will milk it for all it's worth, And then probably fold into line.
