All New Ford Performance Vehicles Range Is Here - FPV To Put F6 On Ice

FPV Unleashes Its FG Arsenal

Samantha Stevens

www.wheelsmag.com.au

From 310kW blown six to 315kW Boss V8, FPV's FG Falcon-based performance range pitches its new sports and luxury philosophy.

While FPV refuses to acknowledge the power war between itself and HSV, its new FG arsenal is proof positive that one exists.

“This is not a power war – it’s not about a badge on a boot; we are not chasing numbers,” said FPV head honcho Rod Barrett at the new model’s introduction last night.

He almost sounded convincing…

The past two days have seen both HSV release its 317kW LS3 and the Federal Government reveal its new luxury car tax (which effectively stopped HSV from revealing its new pricing).

But at last night’s introduction the members of the team introducing FPV’s new cars had the glow of well-fed cats. Almost every question was answered with a ‘wait until you drive it’, followed by a smirk, grin or wink.

While we wait, here are the facts.

FPV To Put F6 On Ice

Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) will be without its series-leading turbocharged F6 model from mid-2010.

The tuning house has just launched the storming new F6 turbo, which sets new standards in Australian six-cylinder performance, belting out 310kW and 565Nm from just 1950rpm.

Ford Australia will cease production of its Geelong-built inline six-cylinder which FPV uses as a basis for its F6 powerplant just before the Euro IV emissions standard comes into force in July 2010.

A senior FPV source has told GoAuto that FPV will not have a replacement engine ready by the time production of the Australian I6 winds-up.

The lack of a replacement engine means the F6 model will be put on ice. Asked whether FPV would stockpile some I6-powered F6 cars before production ceased, the source said: “No, when it’s over, it’s over.”

Holden must be very worried about the new Ford Falcon series. Even if it doesn't right-out clobber the Commodore, even stealing 1000 sales per month will be devastating.

Porn. I don't care if the typhoon is faster. The GT looks hottest.

There must be some law against calling this a torque "curve".

It's alright, performance I'm sure... but, the looks kinda veer towards a night-walker that doesn't know how to put on her makeup... g-ross!!!

I can't wait to see how Holden will respond to this newfound threat... you know, without competition there is no need for improvement... Bring it!!!

Never been much of a Ford fan, but these are starting to look the business. Now IF they have addressed those quality control issues, I'd seriously consider one over the Commodore.

Not for this little black duck. They've taken awkward styling and made it worse to my eyes. Mondeo meets 'Once Were Warriors'. Not in a good way.

Oh...my god. I agree with almost everyone on GMI....why can't Ford produce this car for NA??
Although, it looks similar to the new Legacy.

That GTE looks really good. One thing i find weird is the badge placement on the rear passenger doors. Other than that its very impressive

It looks elegant, sexy and sporty. I hope the new Taurus looks at least this good.

Re: All New Ford Performance Vehicles Range Is Here!

GTE is the pick of the bunch, Have to agree with Aych Es Vee there.

F6 is really the all go car in the FPV line up. It doesn't have the cleaner subtle looks of the GTE like the Senator has on it's other models, But it looks much better.

I don't believe the so called power war claim as not being on. It's game on i think the F6 is proof of this. No more space given to the V8 FPV's they just stomped on it's head!.

This is not a power war – it’s not about a badge on a boot
..

Or the numbers on the bonnet. Or a numbers on the back door.
