perhaps not the most typical course test, but all in all I found it fair! Considering the cost difference and the debatable different class of cars, I still think no one can beat the Vette for bang vs buck!

I wonder how the Z06 would have faired--actually, scratch that--I wonder what suspension option was on the Vette they tested, and how a higher spec like the Z51 would have compared.

I wonder what mode they had the Stability Control set to on the Corvette, there are different modes ya know.........and it would be nice to know if it was a Z51 or not, i say these two things could have pushed it over the edge to beating the R8

plus the R8 is AWD, Chevy has to hold to a set of historical values everytime they make a new Corvette, or im sure it would have been AWD years ago

In Car and Driver's Lightning lap the LS2 powered Z51 Corvette at VIR beat the Audi R8 by a whole second.

I dont know if it was a Z51 I watched the video but with no sound however that tight turn might have done it for the Corvette.

They got the torque rating wrong the base car makes 430BHP and 424ft-lbs and with the optional exhaust it climbs to 436BHP and 428ft-lbs I wouldn't be shocked if it wasnt a Z51 car in this comparo

I'd still take the Corvette hands down. For the massive difference in money, the Audi just
isn't worth it. Let's try this again with the ZR1 next year, and see who wins.

Well from my experience, The R8 is a fine ride, but for the price difference, I'll take my lowly Z51 anyday! I don't get to wring it out like they do on these tests but it makes me feel great being able to take a sweeping corner and not worry about traction, and getting on the onramps is a blast! It's also fitting to be talking about the 'Vette for MY 1000th POST!!
