The only thing misleading about the article is the 24 mpg number. Its higher than that, with a modicum of effort.
24 is for the Z06, not the LS2/LS3 vettes which do much better. Hell the L03 in my Caprice is capable of returning 24-25mpg highway with 5000lbs of Wagon to lug around. My Avalanche can hit 23mpg @63mph (held with your foot not the cruise, for some reason AFM doesn't kick in as much under cruise).

The reasons you state of vaporizing your tires getting old after a while are the main reasons I bought a new truck instead of replacing my Caprice with an older truck and getting a Mustang GT or lightly used Corvette as my other car. Performance is great but in reality you don't use it very often. A smooth ride, etc you use every time you drive however.

for what it is, it gets pretty damn good fuel mileage. i think that's what the headline alludes to. it's not about being a competitor to the Prius or anything for sure.
I think you've got it best with the other supercars it is better but I will say compared to the SRT8s I've tested I do think the Z06 would be better overall mileage wise, but it also demanded more thrashing.

how could someone writing for DETROIT news say that Lexus has a two-mode. I'll say it again, automotive journalists are for the most part ignorant and retarded and have no real interest in the car industry other than googling for information to help write their articles

I agreed with the article too. The writer pointed out that Chevy still didn't do as good of a job as they could have with the interior. That is one thing that I hope GM as a whole continues to improve upon. I understand they need to be profitable, but the profits will come if they continue to improve on reliability and creature comforts like the interior. That will go a long way to getting the public image of GM changed. Regardless, I would still love a Corvette now, but I would probably take a regular coupe with a removable hardtop.

Doh, you are correct. I was thinking the RX was the larger SUV, but thats the LX. But still, even with the LHD 3.3 V6 it only get 2mpg better than the regular non-hybrid 3.5 6cyl at a 4-5000 dollar premium(and has less power)!

If I could afford one, the Z-06 would be in my garage. I would cruise on weekends and do some occasional performance driving at the local track. The ZR1, IMO, would not be as much fun to drive or own. A lightly optioned Z-51 convertible would also be great fun.

you are correct it will get 29 MPG as i did on the ohio pike going to woodward ave cruise driving the speed limit. the ohio patrol will do a 180 turn if they see you in a corvette and try and "dive bomb you" to give you a ticket

what im trying to get across is that there are so many mistakes in Automotive writing, and one should expect the authors to do the right research before publishing an article, no offense to anyone on this site. I feel that the articles written by those on this site are WAAAY better than most of the crap out there.

I got 34MPG avg highway on a trip from Dayton OH to Charlotte NC. One tank of gas, 4 states, and going maybe 10 over the posted limit.

the z06 is badass, but I never really follow the usability such as fuel-efficiency (and things like interior quality) of a sports car. usually its something I'd take during the weekends in auto-x and track. its not a bad thing, I respect that, but I'd just focus on the performance.

I have owned my 2007 ZO6 since November of 2006 (14 month)
at normal freeway driving , the instant fuel milage shows 24-32 / mpg .
If you only get 12 / mpg , you will be whit out driving license relay
soon .
