Test Drive : 2008 Chevrolet Malibu LT four-cylinder

The Malibu is not a sporty sedan. It feels a bit too big, too soft, and too easy to drive. It's not a "boat" by any means, but I would say the Malibu is closer to a Buick Allure than a Honda Accord. If you want comfort, roominess, a quiet cabin, and good value, the Malibu four-cylinder is a good choice. But if you want an athletic sedan, you'll have to look elsewhere.

Damn. GM's obsessed with covering up their engines now. I remember a time when the engine block was just left open without the black plastic covers.

Don't think it's that bad.

That's just crazy talk. Who would want that? Give me a cramped, over-priced, noisy, uncomfortable car over the Malibu any day.

A Buick LaCrosse in Canada. GM had to rename it because in french-canadian slang it could mean two things :
1- A ripp-off.
2- «Self-pleasure» (more common sense in rural area).

My french-Canadian buddy told me he had never heard the term before.

"Allure" is a far better name than "LaCrosse". What were they thinking anyhow?

Is a Lu-Le-La name scheme that important?

and BTW - the Allure is a nice car inside and out, and the owners love them. Too bad it takes such a bad rap.

Maybe he should go out more often.

"C'est de la crosse" = rip-off
" je me crosse" = .. you guessed it

Very true. I live in Canada and this was pure marketing B.S. Someone thought French Canadians would be offended by the name LaCrosse but almost nobody knows the term. It also happens to be the name of our national sport so what gives.

Someone in Marketing just wanted to make a deal of it to promote their own career. Nobody else gives a crap; it should of had the same name as the U.S. version.

I assure you : when I heard someone said « c'est de la crosse», I know it's a rip-off. Anyway, just by my nick and the way I wrote in english, you probably have guessed I know a thing or two about Quebec's slang...
