Wtf is this crap? How is the Prius a good value? Its slow as hell, handles like a pig, looks like ass. Apparently fuel efficiency is worth A LOT these days.

And what really kills me is how the Land Crusher won for utility. The Tahoe will tow just as much, with more interior room, and better efficiency for half the price.

Is this the Uplander's first award ever? We are all so proud.

The prius?!??! THE PRIUS?!!?!?
What the hell? What about the Malibu? That's about the best car you can buy in the midsize sedan under $21k slot!!!
And nice list of Chevys, but what does MSN know about cars anyways?

Re: MSN: 2008 Best Overall Value Awards

nice to see the Silverado won pretty much across the board. But I wonder why the Tundra got best 2WD, and Silverado got best 4WD. Wonder what the big difference between them would be?

Tundra's 2wd reg cab long box with the 5.7 is its highest towing config.

Exactly! The Tahoe and Expedition are both far better values.

Huh? Shouldn't the Prius only be in one category or the other?

Midsize under $21,000 - Toyota Prius

Totally bogus. A Prius is not under 21K it's base price is $21760. Why this slow fat dumpy overpriced piece of crap made the list 3 times along with the Avalon tells me that they hired a bunch of clueless kids to randomly pick these cars from a list. Actually kids in my area would be smarter than this and would tell MSN that the Prius is more of a fashion statement and false economy.

Even stranger is how the now lame duck Uplander made the list. Virtually ever other minivan is better, even the Toyota Sienna and Honda Oddessy.

The Buick Enclave should have made the crossover list.

The Malibu would have been my choice for under 21K mid size sedans with the Taurus best full size over 24K.

Re: MSN: 2008 Best Overall Value Awards

Best overall value? Let's compare 4x4s: a 6 cylinder Toyota 4Runner Sport and a 6 cylinder Chevrolet Trailblazer LT3, each with minimal options.

Cost:
4Runner - $33,755
Trailblazer - $31,350

Lease (36 mo.; 15,000 miles, $0 down)
4Runner - $590
Trailblazer - $541.40

5 year scheduled maintenance
4Runner - $1,998
Trailblazer - $1,489

So the 4Runner costs more to buy, more to maintain and depreciates faster. Some value.

(Purchase price and lease rates from manufacturer's web sites using current offers. Maintenance costs from Automobile Magazine's web site.)
