Because the Pontiac G5 shouldn't exist in the first place. Me thinks a plan to ditch it and the Wave just may be in the woks....

I think it's pretty rad that GM swatted everyone down in Europe with a "cheap econobox".
He hates everything else because he is...Cobalt Crazy....haha. This SS is pretty sweet IMO, but it doesn't make it better than everything else contrary to certain peoples perceptions....jus saying....

What a coup. I stopped reading the article after the 'ring times and I dare not look at the interior.
The OPC Astra is 20hp short of the Cobalt SS/TC and it's essentially the same car as the Cobalt...but it's also about $40K in USD, so the Cobalt is a steal.

Re: Motortrend - First Drive: 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS coupe

I only criticize cars that I judge to be worthy of criticism. Go look up all posts I have and show me where I hate on any GM cars unfairly.... If ANYTHING I'm just the counterbalance to the muscle car worshippers, which I, '''from experience''' have put thousands of miles on over various types of rwd v8 GM products

...or lest we forget all the people that HATE on the Cobalt SS for being a "SS" even though it 'only' has a turbo 4 and is faster drag and assure-edly auto-X'ing than 95% of cars GM has ever produced. ever.

Q-ing the Muscle car worshippers (Only RWD V8's should be SS's) in 3...........2..............1................->

Re: Motortrend - First Drive: 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS coupe

The price of the spoiler is low because it replaces a smaller standard spoiler.

Being 40, the formerly standard large spoiler would be a deal killer for me. Looks silly unless you're in your 20s...or still act that way

Seems that's the entire list of options. The SS will be in the next batch of prices I upload to the server, most likely tonight or tomorrow night.

No but when people accuse me, allegedly of hating on GM cars when anyone who has used their brain while on GMI since Oct. 05 knows I'm a HUGE GM SUPPORTER and 'want' their cars to do well, I just point out the facts. Why things are the way they are.

Back on topic, I love how a High Wing, LSD, and sunroof are the only options. Unfortuntately (or fortunately) I desire the fully loaded version

The car drives great and though articles keep pointing out how the 'tactile' feel of an MS3/GTI isn't there I compare it to all the haters on the CTS compared to 3/5 and to a lesser extent, the G.

I think its crazy that all the muscle car people wont give this car a fair chance. Typical muscle car mind. I think we should see them run before we start going crazy.

Re: Motortrend - First Drive: 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS coupe

The only way that Cobalt will ever beat an F-body is if that F-body was a 1998 Camaro, fully loaded, automatic, convert, has 135K on it with no oil changes ever, and had a spark plug pulled going from a 40mph roll where it won't downshift. I can promise you that if you roll up to a Z28 or WS6 on the street or track stock for stock you WILL lose. Remember: An F-body (6spd esp.) will run 13.2-13.4 all day, your pathetic Cobalt will be running 14.2 maybe just maybe, a few will dip into high 13's. Sorry to burst your little bubble there buddy, but consider yourself lucky if you can beat an LT1 Fbody. Oh if you do race Mom's car vs that and you claim to win, myself and anybody else will demand a video of this.

Most people here like the car, but they also know the pecking order of GM performance cars.

It's like if people were claiming the new Camaro will be faster than a C6 - most GM fans would call BS. Does that mean those calling BS have a typical sports car mind and aren't giving "muscle" cars (again, fbodies and GTOs aren't muscle cars) a chance? No. They are being honest.

How come this one has the big aero wing and the one from the other thread does not? Is it an option, then?
The wing is standard on the SS.
