I love it!

If you are referring to the Tahoe, all engine/transmission combos are available with 4WD.
If I'm not mistaken, the 6.2L V8 with 380hp is only available with 2WD for the Tahoe. Correct me if I'm wrong because that's what Chevy's website and other sources say.

That would have been interesting - putting the Tahoe Hybrid in there.

If you believe Chevrolet.com or fueleconomy.gov, that isn't the case. The 6.2L/6L80 is only available on 2WD so far.

What about Chrysler?

Remember, the Armada got a new interior for '08.

I've driven an '08 Armada. A cr@pload of buttons and a dash so cheap it scratched from just touching it.

They said the Sequioa was the most comfortable? What a bunch of bull****. I've been in the new Tundra, and they have the most uncomfortable seats of any vehicle I've ever been in.

I never believe anything I am told on the interwebs!

My mistake, I could have sworn I built one with 4WD.

I guess I was too caught up with the hybrid.

I'll grant you, Chevrolet.com is not the most reliable source of information...

Re: MotorTrend 2008 Fullsize SUV Comparison Test

I just read the article, and I think that the Tahoe Z71 is hot.

GM should keep everything as is, but add the 6 speed auto and do what they can to increase towing capacity without sacrificing fuel economy.

They should make the fact the Tahoe has a solid rear axle a HUGE benefit. They noted that it already was the best off roader (though they got the wrong stat on approach/departure angles for the Z71 Tahoe).

The glaring faults that I find are few: The lack of a six speed auto and a lowish towing capacity. If GM can add in the six speed for better fuel economy and performance, keep the Z71's off road credentials and hot styling, and improve towing capacity by another 2500 lbs (maybe show they are serious by adding the standard trailer brake controller from the Silverado half ton), then there is no reason anyone would choose the Expedition over a Tahoe, unless they are a soccer mom in which case Motor Trend should be testing the Traverse instead of the Tahoe. The only thing that Chevy should lift from the Toyota SUV is the roll down rear window (instead of the lift glass). Ford really had nothing to offer. Nissan had a lightweight truck and knows how to cut the fat, so GM can learn from them there...

The best things about the Tahoe that I see is that it has the best off road capability- and GM needs to share the Z71 bumpers with the rest of the Tahoe line. It handles well...better than the Ford and Toyota. It has a really nice interior. I personally think that the Tahoe in the test looked better than any other competitor.

It looks to me like the Tahoe has become the Land Rover of the group (except that Chevys last longer than anyting out of the UK). That's a great place to be...the fundamentals are there, but they just need to work on performance and towing details.

I like that the Tahoe doesn't have a fold flat third row. That is what the Traverse is for. As it is, I'd put the Z71 Tahoe up against the Land Cruiser for usable off road capability (hill desent control would be nice, though). That image alone will attract buyers with the need for that kind of truck and buyers without the need for that kind of truck. If buyers need three rows of seats AND off road capability, then GM will happily sell them a Suburban, which should have been included in this MT test considering the fixation on third row seats.

I just bought a Silverado in September....judging from my experience with the pickup version of these bruisers, I can say that the Tundra has the edge in engine output, the Ford probably rides the best, and the Chevy is best all around. I've spent a lot of time in the previous generation Suburban during my time working in the oil field. It's a great SUV...hands down better than the Expedition. Nissan's full sized trucks tank in reliability, and I don't know much about the Sequioa so I'll have to take their word that it's only two virtues are it's manual mode six speed auto and powerful engine (somehow that alone granted it's first place finish), which I understand is important for towing. I don't know how it can be so comfortable without a recline function...

just my rant...I think the only thing that Chevy needs to improve on the Tahoe is the towing capacity and the number of cogs in the transmission....but it's key to maintain the off road credentials and everything else that makes the Tahoe great. 6200lb towing capacity is a bit low for a full size truck.

A quick glance reveals that the button load is no more in the Nissan than it is in the other vehicles.

I sneezed on the dash of the Tahoe and it disintegrated. See how ridiculous that sounds?
