Cobalt SS Turbocharged has an FE5 suspension, S/C has the FE3. Turbo Cobalt SS FTW!

That sounds like a great idea for an engine option between the 3.6 DI and the V series. I'd love to see the 3.6 DI go with a small twin turbo setup like BMW. This results in very little turbo lag and a lot of torque throughout the powerband, plus a bump in fuel economy.

Hey, if you don't mind me asking, what was your out the door price on your HHR SS? I might be able to talk my wife into trading her Ion out for one.

"Sighs of relief..."? They were sweating this? I bet their heads would have exploded if it had actually passed them. Nonetheless, I'm now looking forward to some mismatched comparos.

Sighs of relief all round.
I can't believe how biased Europeans are. Yes god forbid the Americans do something well.

I mean they're almost viscous. I was watching a top gear video with the LS460, and every time the park assist didn't work the audience went crazy and started cheering. That's just weird.

Re: HHR SS almost spoils a Jaguar XF SV8 review

Hmm I too read the magazine, and was a little surprised to hear of a HHR SS (which is an odd combination - something that could only have been born in the US, which wasn't a van to start with, but looks like it could have been, with a performance engine, with a chassis honed around the Burger, which is able to keep up with the equivalent of a 5-series in the twisties) keeping on the tail of an XF until the driver put his foot down...

What I would like to see though is how the HHR SS would do against a more conventional small hatch, Golf GTi, Astra VXR or Astra 88 springing to mind....

However, seeing as the UK won't be getting the HHR, I won't ever be able to comment on what a car the HHR is. Another wonderful decision then - let the Tacuma/Rezzo soldier on until it becomes inferior to a wheelchair... =/

EDIT:

I don't think in this case it was overwhelming bias against anything American, maybe more the worrying fact that a HHR could just keep up with a V8 flagship saloon in the twisties.

I wouldn't be surprised that the "hack" driving the HHR SS was none other than John Heinracy of GM, one of the best showroom stock drivers of all time.

Hop on the EuroStar and find a country that does have the HHR. It is sold in Europe.

Oh yeah, it`s a blast. Much more power than the 1LT I traded in.
PS, I was Up-side-down, so my out the door price reflects that.
That being said, $30,000 is in the ballpark.

If that were the case, the HHR SS would have been a very small speck ... in the Jag's (front) windshield. I'm not sure what kind of racing chops the Jaguar chief engineer has and there's no denying he's in a fast car, but if he's never done a 9 minute lap at the ring, he'd be turning off the stability control even if Heinricy was driving a HHR LT.

BTW - showroom stock may mean different things to different people, Heinricy has raced GTP cars, CTS-V's, won his SCCA class for eight straight years...

Most Jag drivers won't know what DSC is or how to turn it off, and therefore will be promptly left in the dust.
