Re: First Drive: Chevrolet HHR

I don't think that looks much like the PT Cruiser.

The back seat comfortably handles full-size folks with plenty of head room and ample shoulder room for two, or three in a pinch.

That's a relief. I hope he's right.

I will find out tomorrow I am going to crawl all over it and take some 5 megapixel pics. If you guys wan't to see anything in particular let me know. I will tell them I am writing a review for it online and see if I can get a test drive. I hope they have an 06 Impala too. I would preffer the LTZ actually as it seems the SS has been pretty well covered.

Re: First Drive: Chevrolet HHR

Saw one in the flesh the other day. It may stand for Heritage "High Roof" but the thing I was surprised by is how low it is. The PT cruiser seems alot higher.

I saw a blue one yesterday, and yea, that car sits low. Looks much better in person than what I've seen in online pictures.

Saw my first HHR in the flesh yesterday. Very nice fit and finish IMO. My wife is dying for one.

Yes, the first time you see an HHR in person, and I've seen many in Detroit, you'll realize that this is really a tiny vehicle.

A few weeks ago, in a thread about the new Impala and HHR, people were commenting at how much larger the HHR appeared when compared to the PT Cruiser. The pictures are somewhat deceiving ... the HHR is tiny.

The most obvious difference is in the wheelbase ... the HHR clearly has a longer wheelbase, which gives it a much nicer profile than the PT Cruiser, in my opinion.

I believe Motor Trend has a good HHR-PT comparison in this month's edition.

Not bad. I like the design. I have no desire to own one though.

It APPEARS low, but look at the ground clearance in the picture.

Your local Chevy dealer would refer to that as "Sporty, yet Rugged."

I was at the auto show in motion this weekend in Los Angeles and there was an HHR on display. The interior was smaller than I thought. It quite narrow inside and a much smaller car when you see it in person. There was also a SKY on display at the Saturn booth. It was roped off, so you could only see and not touch. By the looks the SKY is going to sell well.

Re: First Drive: Chevrolet HHR

The HHR looks great!

Look at the pic ByTheLake posted. The HHR is maybe an inch or so taller than the PT, but is much longer which allows for more cargo space BEHIND the 2nd row of seats. The two aren't meant to be big by any account. They are supposed to be street cruisers meant to carry mostly people and some cargo....but mostly to cruise.

My only gripe is that the HHR doesn't have an AWD option. I have a large RWD car, but I'm searching for a small AWD SUV or crossover-type vehicle with a V8, strong V6, or descent I4 to add to the garage. The HHR fits the bill (almost).

Re: First Drive: Chevrolet HHR

That could be the coolest-looking station wagon ever produced.

Maye they'll extend it in the next couple of years and stick a third row in it?...
