Epic Battle: Pontiac G8 GT vs Dodge Charger R/T, Plus New Video Review!
![]() Cars like the new You know, big, fast American cars. They're not hybrids, they don't run on biodiesel and they rumble and roar through dual exhausts. And they do the sort of epic burnouts that inspire Bruce Springsteen songs...... Rest of review here: Click here to view the 2008 Pontiac G8 GT video review by Inside Line So wouldn't the G8 make the better police car? Even though I haven't seen a Pontiac as a police car...yet. Sorry Charger... your time has come and gone.
Oh I REALLY hope Pontiac dealers don't pull a Solstice and tack a huge premium onto the G8 pricetag... this car deserves to be a big hit, and doesn't need Pontiac dealers working against that.

"Wish in one hand, sh?t in the other and see which gets filled up first" ![]() Pontiac dealers will kill the G8 intro, just like they did with the GTO & Solstice. If you think differently you're just kidding yourself. |

Re: EPIC BATTLE G8 GT vs Dodge Charger R/T
The front fascia of the 'Charger' looks as if it carries the bloodlines of the late 300G rather than the Charger of old.
![]() Whereas I can see a decent enough similarity in the timeless G8 to the priceless Firebird of '69. ![]() I'd rather have the G8, too, but that awkward looking extended front and allegedly 'safer' bumpers needs to go... ..and it needs a goddamn sequential manual gearbox. |

I think the Charger has to much sheet metal. It looks too big next to the G8, like it should be competing against a Caprice or something.

When I sat in it at the Chicago Auto Show, I was very disappointed with the interior. It seemed to go backwards from what GM is trying to do with interiors. The materials seemed cheap IMO. Other than that, i really like the car! |

I was surprised to learn that both these cars are running flathead engines.

The Charger still has the style needed for this segment. The G8 isn't bad, but it looks like an Americanized/Australianized Acura TL, wedge shape and all.

Re: EPIC BATTLE G8 GT vs Dodge Charger R/T
Yeah, just read this at Edmunds a little bit ago. They made it seem like the G8 is better all around and cost less at the same time. This is a great deal for a car that can almost beat the srt8 charger. I cannot wait to see the specs and domination of the G8 GXP when it may come out.

I wouldn't mind some stiffer leather from GM. Maybe it'll last longer than the paper thin stuff they put in my Camaro. |
