The 2009 Cadillac CTS-V goes on sale in October. Cadillac says the price hasn't been set. But since the old model got up to $53,000 and since the new 414-hp, V8-powered BMW M3 runs right around $60,000, we expect the Cadillac will list for just over $60K. A few options such as the automatic and the supremely comfy Recaro seats should push the price up to around $65,000.
That price would work for me...

They are actually different wheels. But it's clear that someone within GM loves the design, because it seems they did it twice.

Re: Edmunds Rides Along in the '09 CTS-V

Take a CLOSE look at the 2 sets of wheels again on the V and the GTS. If you look closely although they appear identical, the V wheels spokes have a small "thickening" where the spoke meets the rim, and appears to give a "diamond" shape (between the spokes) instead of a "V" shape like in the GTS. This is a very small detail but the do almost look dead on. It is clear someone loves the design within GM.

Well, shucks.
I guess there's always hope for imports or knockoffs...

Not sure why anyone would buy an STS-V over this. More expensive, less power, no MRC...

I've said it before and will again: THERE IS NO POINT TO THE STS or STS-V after Caddy/GM did such a fantastic job with the CTS. So with the debacle that is the XLR, Cadillac only sells two models, the CTS and Escalade, along with their variants. (technically this is not true but really, look at the lineup and the stars are clear.)

There is a point to the XLR. I've never been comfortable with the very low seating position in Vettes... it seems like the H-point on the XLR's seats is a bit higher resulting in a more upright seating position.

As buyers of expensive cars tend to be more "mature", it's easy to see how that would be appreciated.

They don't offer MRC on a non-V CTS, so that is a reason to buy an STS.

Re: Edmunds Rides Along in the '09 CTS-V

So what happened to the paddle shifters on the CTS that they promised us on the 2009 model cars?

They probably cheaponed out on offering some honest too goodness real paddle shifters....not the ones in the BU (I still can't believe that is the best option for paddle shifters on the Vette)

How much money can it possibly cost them to do this?

I thought the same thing.
I'm pretty sure Edmunds always finds some way to make a jab at the car they're testing, be it deserved or not. And in this case saying 60K is a lot of money...you have to wonder what they think they're testing or what they're comparing this car to in order to warrant such a statement.

Make mine Black Raven with the Recaros, automatic (I'll row gears in the ZR1) and export lighting.

Or you can wait. Hi-buck cars take big dumps.

The wife wants a Caddy for her next car....a loaded certified '05 STS ($64K MSRP) is $26K today. Well, this will start off at $64K too, so I said "why not this?" And she said ok. OK!!!!

Now all I have to do it wait till the end of the model run plus a few years for depreciation.
8 or 9 years ought to be about right... maybe in 2017 there'll be a huge gas price spike and no one will want 'em.
