He obviously is just spewing anything he can think of to try to knock the car. What other auto maker is "abandoning" vertical taillights? To my knowledge, they have been a hallmark on Cadillac's for decades! Ed Welburn while talking about the new styling and how Cadillac incorporated the LED light pipes in both the front lamps and taillamps basically said Cadillac OWNS vertical lights and as long as he has anything to do with it, Cadillac will continue to have them!! Plus, nobody has any vertical headlights even remotely similar to these. This guy can bite me! What an idiot! I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'll put the CTS up against ANY car in it's class, and it does quite well against cars in the next higher class as well!

Re: CTS a good enough sports sedan

I had some time to think about this review. Why not go all out and revise the followng paragraph as follows,

"The week after, I hopped into a BMW 535xi sedan – about the same size as the CTS4 and able to put it to shame as easily as an Ovechkin outclasses a Kovalchuk."

"The week after driving the CTS my editor dropped off a Maybach 62 at my suburban home. And frankly, the CTS pales in comparison to the Maybach. For instance, no rear fold down seats? C'mon Cadillac. Or what about the optional microphone system? And quite frankly, the materials in the newly redesigned CTS don't have the same "feel" as the Maybach. Forget about the refrigerator so rear comparment passengers can enjoy a "cold one". But compared with the $380,000 price tag on the Maybach, the CTS is a bargain at the $58,000 unit we tested.

A slight exageration. But makes about as much sense as comparing with the 5 Series. Caddy was targeting the 3 Series and MB C Class, Mr. Duarte.

Again, the guy was talking out his *******.

Re: CTS a good enough sports sedan

Styling is subjective, I'll give him that much, but to diss it as outdated, when clearly it is not, is inexcusable. Why is it so hard for the press, especially American press to praise a great car from the home team? Is it because of the overlying media American self-loathing that is prevelent in the mainstream media today?

Outdated styling? I don't understand these guys.

Man do we have piss-poor excuses for journalists in this country, the only part I could actually agree with him on is on the lack of torque on the... I believe, base engine.
I know, who really uses the word styling anymore?

Re: CTS a good enough sports sedan

I love the new CTS. It is such a piece of artwork that it is almost a shame to drive it and risk getting it dirty. But none of them that I've seen up close have the kind of beautiful and smooth paint like the red one in a previous post. The ones I've seen all have such rough paint jobs that its noticeable in traffic. Does anyone have any thoughts on this.

Re: CTS a good enough sports sedan

The comment about outdated styling is obviously absolutely ridiculous...

I'm very happy to hear this reviewer call the CTS possibly the most silent sports sedan in the world. That's very, very cool to hear (no pun intended). I'm glad Cadillac did it's homework in this regard.

HOWEVER. Cadillac does need to take things one step up (like Lexus does) and rework the HVAC, transmission gears and steering rack. Things like this (which obviously stood out to the reviewer) are important.

Has this guy ever heard of heritage design? The only reason other companies are doing he verts is because most of them don't have a real design history to go off of since they change designs so much. Companies like nissan and toyota are just now starting to develop a design heritage, whereas gm has over 100 years of design (some the best ever built) to rely on.

It would except for the fact that the cts matches the bmw in size, power, and weight. Comparing the new cts to a 3 series is like comparing a mini and an h2 (slight exageraton), but dang they did that too.
