Nissan Murano: 18/23, 20

Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel: 17/22, 19

Chevrolet TrailBlazer/GMC Envoy: 14/20, 16
Jeep Commander: 14/19, 16
Ford Explorer: 13/19, 15

The Pilot seems to be in the higher, rather than lower part of the list.
Now IFCAR, you know you're posting SUV's that don't even belong here. Why did you bother doing it?
You said earlier that the Frauds test SUV's based on AWD first, popularity second. So why are you again changing the game?
According to the Frauds, does the Saturn Vue get bad gas mileage, or not? And if the Frauds said the Vue gets bad gas mileage (because it was the AWD V6 they tested), why don't they likewise say the Pilot gets bad gas mileage?
If the Frauds are saying the Vue gets bad mileage just because it has an AWD V6 model that does, why aren't they saying the Pilot gets bad gas mileage? The AWD V6 Pilot does!

Now back to this list of yours and its related follies.
You list the GMC Trailblazer even though:
  • While the Trailblazer is nominally a "mid-sized" SUV, it's not a crossover midsized SUV, like the Pilot. For this reason, the Trailblazer does not belong on this list.
  • the Trailblazer plant has been axed. This model has been replaced by the Lambda crossovers. In Chevy's case, the Trailblazer got replaced by the Traverse. Current Trailblazers will be sold until all inventory is gone.
  • The Trailblazer isn't even sold with a V6 engine. It's main engine is a Chevy V8 Small-block. Again, it does not belong in this list.

  • The Jeep Commander is another non-crossover SUV that comes mainly with a V8 engine (three different V8's are offered, as a matter of fact). Unlike the Honda Pilot, there's no such thing as a FWD Commander, or a Crossover Commander, for that matter.
  • To make matters worse with your list, the Commander isn't even car-based; it's a truck-based SUV.
__________________________________________________
  • The Ford Explorer is more midsize than the other two, but it's still a truck-based SUV and not a crossover, like the Honda Pilot. Also, the main engine again is a V8, not a V6 like in the Pilot.
  • Furthermore, the Ford Taurus X turned the Explorer into a full-sized, body-on-frame SUV; the Ford Taurus X, like the Honda pilot, is a midsized crossover with only one available engine: a V6. is slotted between the Ford Escape and Explorer (and certainly the Flex).
_________________________________________________

I'm even going to complain about your including the Nissan pathfinder on the list.
  • It's a truck-based, body-on-frame vehicle. The Honda pilot is not.
  • A V8 is offered as optional equipment. The Pilot doesn't.
  • It's a rear-wheel drve truck. The Pilot is a front-wheel-drive crossover.
It therefore does not belong on this list.

I made the Toyota 4Runner go bye-bye (A Toyota and a Toyota? Both in the same class? C'mon, IFCAR!).
_________________________________________________

The Chrysler Pacifica isn't even made anymore.
  • IFCAR: I'm wondering. Since we're discussing the fuel efficiency of extinct SUV's, why didn't you include the AMC Ambassador? How about the Hudson Wasp?

Knowing all this, let's go back and review our list, shall we?

Toyota Highlander Hybrid: 27/25, 26
Hyundai Tucson: 18/24/20 17/24/19
Nissan Murano: 18/23, 20
Toyota Highlander: 17/23, 19
Buick Enclave/GMC Acadia/Saturn Outlook, Ford Flex: 16/22, 18
Ford Edge: 15/22, 18
Ford Taurus X: 15/22, 18
Subaru Tribeca: 16/21, 18
Kia Sorrento: 15/22/17. 15/22/17
Honda Pilot: 15/20/17 <----------Gas hog!
Mitsubishi Endeavor: 15/19, 17

Thanks for answering my question. You found the Mitsubishi Endeavor. An SUV that actually gets worse mileage than the Honda Pilot. Lol, congradulations.

Re: Consumer Reports reviews small SUVs: Liberty, Sorento, Outlander, Rogue, Forester

The Sorento and Tucson aren't midsize SUVs, and your Pilot rating is the 2008 model that is no longer being built. The 2009 is rated at 16/22, same as its GM competitors.

The Pilot, 2008 or 2009, gets good gas mileage compared to truck-based competitors, just like all the other car-based models. Most of which get very similar mileage, unless a 1-mpg difference separates a great car from a guzzler.

CR said the Vue got poor mileage for a compact SUV. The Pilot gets good mileage for a midsize SUV.

Any other tricky questions?
