Re: Cobalt SS Has Right Chemistry for Street Cred

Quote:

BAKERSFIELD, CA – Cobalt, the element, has a split personality.

Its name is derived from a German word that equates to “goblin” in English. And it can be morphed into a nuclear weapon with enough destructive potential to wipe out every life form on the planet.

So, according to these criteria, if the base-model Chevrolet Cobalt were a mischievous gnome, the ’08 Cobalt SS coupe would be “the bomb.”

Not even Chevy would go that far. But the performance-oriented iteration of the bow-tie brand’s compact segment offering boasts the basic chemistry of affordable street cred.

While a good review, this here is just rambling nonsense...

Did he have a minimum word count he was trying to reach....? Foolishness.

It is, "kobolt" is a German word for goblin, which silver miners thought were replacing silver with this blue substance....it eventually was translated into English where car reviewers with an internet connection could look it up and sound smart ....

Great concept, but wrong Delta car. The powertrain and suspension bits should go to the Astra, I felt it was a bit underwhelming in acceleration. The Cobalt is nice though.

I agree, I'm very confused by GM's Brand philosophy, now Pontiac is selling a vibe and a non-GXP G5, while saturn tries to market a smooth-driving but anemic Astra? I thought those were supposed to be the "step-up" brands?

Sloan would be rolling over in his grave. Agree with your positive note too - nice to see the Cobalt get its due.

The Cobalt already has full instrumintation plus the boost guage, what now, a "G" meter like in the Vette?

And why was it a "Con"? What kinda of extra info did they want displayed?
no thats what i meant. its part of the same old DIC nothing physically different, just more options when seeking. I doubt its an extra display (which is what I would want). What would it display???

I don't get why its a con. Exactly, I totally agree.

No such thing anymore. Chevrolet is on par with saturn, pontiac, buick, GMC...SAAB and Cadillac would be the luxury brands. Everyone else is on par. GM doesn't have 50% marketshare and all brands need to compete and now be shortchanged.

How exactly would a G6 be a step up from a Malibu? G5 from Cobalt? Vibe from HHR? Torr----oh they don't sell that anymore to an Equinox? ...to a Corvette? ... to a Traverse. G8 vs. Camaro.

I just found this on the Cobalt Ordering Guide:

UAF NEW! Performance display, reconfigurable, located on A pillar, replaces analog boost gauge

So it must not be a part of the regular DIC! Wonder what it will be like since its on the A-Pillar?

so what happens to the boost gauge and how do you seek through that menu then?
