Most of the c-net article was devoted to the in-dash LCD screen.
A car is much more than an LCD screen, people!
How did the car drive? "It drove well, but the LCD screen doesn't have NAV software."
Younger folks who are greatly connected and proficient with ipods, blackberries, or iphones, bluetooth, and GPS etc. like cars that align themselves with these devices. It is why the Ford Sync system by microsoft is a big selling point. Even in a car like the Focus this type of technology is desired.

Your welcome to disagree but it seems that electronic sophistication is a real attribute consumers are interested in.

Since when is one of the most revered V8's in the industry considered unsophisticated?
I can't answer for Cnet, but I think they mean sophistication in how you interact with the vechile, and not as much from an engine design standpoint... Although V8 are "Old School" to a lot of folks.

I understand where you comming from but different consumers have different expectations.

...big displacement = big size... big displacement = poor fuel economy... blah blah blah...
*smacks forehead in disgust over obsession with engine displacement for the sake of it

I swear, blindly using displacement to judge an engine must be the easiest way to tell a car n00b. I almost want to go make an account just to call them out on blindly using stereotypes. How is an L76 physically larger, heavier, or thirstier than a comparably powered DOHC V8? Say BMW's 4.8, which makes the same top end power, but less low end power and less mpg. And I'd bet its more expensive to make, without being significantly (if any) lighter (and don't forget c.g of the weight).

ok I feel better now (takes deep breath)
