Cnet reviews 4 cylinder Malibu LTZ

2008 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ Review

Quote:
Overall, we found the driving experience relatively characterless, and fuel economy didn't prove a saving grace. The only highlight in the performance tech was the six-speed automatic transmission. For cabin tech, we like the functionality of the stereo interface, although it's not particularly pretty. The car as a whole is pretty good looking, and the interior is comfortable enough. For our tech-oriented ratings, the Malibu scores a little above average.
It scored a 5.9 out of 10. They liked the car but didn't like the tech. Seems like an unfair rating considering the more expensive Accord got a 7.8 when it's only real advantage is navigation. They also downplayed the Malibu's strong points.

Yay California.

Yes, but this is C-NET! The Accord has Navigation, The Malibu doesn't. C-Net is not qualified to give an automotive review, just the gadgets inside the car. Who looks to C-Net for an auto review?

OnStar, customizeable options by DIC, remote start, optional two-way key fob with crazy capability..... yeah, no tech to be found.

Re: Cnet reviews 4 cylinder Malibu LTZ

I'm sorry but the 4 cylinder versions of the G6 and Malibu are complete wastes of time. Only 4 MPG separates the I4 from the V6.... Not enough if you ask me. They should just kill the I4 and the Hybrid off and make a Hybrid V6.

Re: Cnet reviews 4 cylinder Malibu LTZ

First off......The morons didn't program the phone numbers into the onstar, Their first complaint that was their fault.
Second, I believe the onstar phone service is satellite based so towers do not matter. wrong again
Third. I dont want to buy new nav discs every time they need updating (expensive) and I surely don't want to take my eyes off the road, especially if I am looking for a place I have never been in a place I have never been . Great way to need the automatic airbag notification.

Verdict.....Geek go back to your kia and stick to Ipod reviews.

The difference is 5MPG combined which equates to $558/Year.

Actually, it does need cellular service for voice and data, but it has a built-in dual-mode(CDMA/AMPS)/dual-band(800MHz/1900MHz) phone with a real antenna, so it's much more likely to get signal in fringe areas than a cell phone.

I liked the LTZ 2.4 seems quick, on has to get used the gears though. I am used to a 4 speed in my rigs.

People love to hate their own. At least in America. I don't understand it.

Re: Cnet reviews 4 cylinder Malibu LTZ

Malibu has MINIMAL technology relative to competition. Go read their CTS review before you start bashing CNET. I consult that site for my tech-based needs...and they provide accurate objective feedback.

Malibu isn't very tech savvy irregardless if its a great car to drive ( it is for its class) or not...

Re: Cnet reviews 4 cylinder Malibu LTZ

You can't deny the Malibu is missing some more advanced features that the competition has. Then on the other hand it does have things the competition doesn't have. On Star would be one thing.

Re: Cnet reviews 4 cylinder Malibu LTZ

Nav in anything but luxury vehicles is dying fast

You want someone to pay 2 grand for something that a $400 GPS does better, and is able to be taken on trips and used in multiple vehicles. Because it looks better? Thats what we call luxury - and its not what a 4 cyl Malibu buyer is looking for.

The automakers need to drop the price on nav or Garmin, Magellan, and Tom Tom are going to make an absolute killing.
