Re: Car & Driver: Chevy Corvette Z06 vs. Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR, Nissan GT-R, Porsche
That was ridiculus... after how many years of being 'long in the tooth' the Z06 still manages to out pace the GT-R... hmmmm... but, who's counting 3.8s 0-60 time to the GT-R's 4.1s... ?!
I'm sure that there was more involved with their choosing the GT-R... but, I don't think I'm going to change my mind about the superiority of the Vette...

This comparison is utter bull s#!t. How can this thing loose in almost every category, but still place first? Wait.....did it win even one category? I'm confused.

So the gt-r wins because if the fastest lap time?????? That's crazy! Those numbers for the gt-r seem more in tune with its power to weight ratio. GO CHEVY! Can't wait for the ZR1 to take over!!!

Car & Driver are well known for being complete and utter bullsh!t, so I wouldn't make anything of this. Nothing serious more than purely biased entertainment anyway.

Re: Car & Driver: Chevy Corvette Z06 vs. Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR, Nissan GT-R, Porsche
So many screaming babies. Car and Drivers LOVES the Corvette....How many times has it been on their 10-Best list? In this one particular and peculiar test it got 4th of 4 badass cars. Big deal.
Car and Driver is weird sometimes. They don't always pick the fastest car, that's a given for those that read C&D regularly. But it is an odd way to do a comparison. There's more being discussed here: Car and Driver: GT-R vs 911 GT2 vs Z06 vs Viper ACR

Re: Car & Driver: Chevy Corvette Z06 vs. Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR, Nissan GT-R, Porsche
This comparison is straight up bullshi*! The Nissan GT-R has nothing on the Z06 and the Z06 also hit 0-60 in 3.8 seconds when compared to the GT-R's 4.1 second sprint. I thought Motor Trend was full of crap but I can honestly say that C&D is far worse than Motor Trend. This comparison was in bias towards the GT-R. Doesn't matter, everyone knows the Z06 had the GT-R beat.

Oh and I should also add that Nissan GT-R better be shaking in it's tires because the new Chevy Corvette ZR1 is going to drill it into the ground.
Can't wait to see that happen..... |

Yeah, invite a dedicated racer like the ACR to a test labled "The Ultimate Track Test!" and when it blows the competition out of the water give it 3rd place. LOL.

Re: Car & Driver: Chevy Corvette Z06 vs. Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR, Nissan GT-R, Porsche
What's the problem with the results? You don't need a magazine to tell you how well suited the 'Vette is for its duties. 4th place finish or not, it's an amazing car with amazing lineage that has stood the test of time. While other names have come and gone-remember when the early 90's brought us "Corvette crushers" like Supra turbo, 300Z, and RX-7?-the Corvette remains an icon.
And honestly, I think GM needs cars like the Viper, the 911 in all its iterations, and the GT-R to keep GM's engineers' eyes on the prize. To be clear, the GT-R will make every Vette going forward that much better! Competition is a great thing for GM. |
