Re: British don't seem to like CTS

Interesting how the 5-series is almost identical in size to the CTS but manages to come in 200 lbs. lighter. Seems to me the difference would be lighter/higher-tech materials and thats where part of the price premium is.

If the CTS could shed those extra pounds, the 3.6 would not have to be thrashed as hard to achieve the 0-60 numbers. I also think the Brits cant get used to the polarizing & sharp-edged look but I still think its great and I see quite a few on the road every day.

Re: British don't seem to like CTS

"And the power window switches ARE cheap (one of the first things I noticed when I got in the CTS), and they're in an awkward position too."

Just because you say it t-rex doesn't make it fact. Same for you, mgescuro.

I happen to like my CTS, and apparently many other new owners do as well.

This is all subjective anyway. Based on someone elses opinion.

So maybe we should all quit being so sensitive, (myself included) and realize that not everyone is going to share our opinion.

Re: British don't seem to like CTS

we have a top-shelf 3.6 DI and it is a wonderful vehicle with a dynamic chassis/powertrain on top of an interior that beats anything in its class.

Re: British don't seem to like CTS

Remember the awesome X type! That car was soooooooo smooth and refined. Ha! Not, I was going to get one because they looked attractive, but the drivetrain was lacking refinement, it was slow, the handling wasn't that good, and that engine was really unrefined. It sounded just like a Ford! Like they should talk. They are just jealous that they don't even own their own companies anymore.

Re: British don't seem to like CTS

The British are snobs...Period! This is the "If it's American its bad" attitude that I see all of the time on Top Gear. Corvette is the perfect example. It doesn't how fast the it goes or how well it handles or how well it drives circles around European equivilants there is always somthing wrong with Corvette. They are fine ones to talk the only English cars these days are made by Germans and the Americans.

CTS is an excellent car. I hope a few Brittons at least will get over their snobbery and peer pressure and take look and a test drive of this wonderful new Cadillac.

Re: British don't seem to like CTS

From "one Englishman don't like the CTS" to "all Brits hate the US"? Hmmm, okay.

Try to forget for a moment that Britain really doesn't have a auto industry any more. Please ignore the fact that all mainstream British brands and most of their prestige makes are owned by foreign companies. Let us not even imagine that a CTS would have blown their minds if only it wore a Vauxhaul logo (imagine the pride they might have felt).

No, the CTS is a pretty good attempt... for an American car.
Exactly my thoughts...I would also add British snobbery/ classism and insecurities...

They are scared by this car...God forbid an American car succeeding where they failed miserably, especially on their home turf. They do not want it to succeed; they are pre-empting the public. Hopefully the average citizen puts aside their inferiority complex and takes the car for what it is...A World-Class car at an even better price.

That "thrashy" 3.6 was designed by a Brit.

Yup. Half way.
well this proves GM has done a $hitty job advertising what the car is suposed to compete with. From this comparision it seems to be against the 5 series but I don't know if GM feels that way in reality. Seems they want to compare it to the 3 series.

and dear god would it kill GM to keep the f'ing weight down? I mean 200 more pounds than the 5 series? Caddy couldn't have figured out a way to cut off 200 pounds somewhere?

Interesting that the 5-series only weighs 66 pounds more than the 3-series.

Exactly what I was thinking. And I thought the 1 and 3 series were close in weight.
