Autoweek Reviews 2007 Saturn Aura

http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dl.../60803006/1009

Pretty good reveiw. Great quote from article:

"That’s right. Our experience with a prototype Aura sedan suggests if it’s not a bull’s-eye centered directly on the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, it is darned close. When we asked each of the first three passengers invited into the Aura what they thought the car was, they all said, “Acura?” They had, perhaps, misread the name embroidered on the floormats, but they also hadn’t seen anything that said, “Nope, not an Acura.” From the embossed “Moroccan brown” leather to the cast-skin dash top to the console-mounted shifter, most everything the eye sees and the finger touches appears up to snuff."

Now GM and Saturn needs to find a way to get people to test drive this car.

I saw this on their site earlier! All I can say is that this car will be a HIT

Although the interior trim seems a bit off where the door and dash interface..

This article nicely defines how GM can build a good car, and more importantly, that the media will praise GM for its efforts. It's really hard to choose one or two quotes that typifies that point, and it's harder to find any bias against the General.

This was an appropriately positive review, it seems.

I think it is an opical illusion. I've seen them in person, and the door trim is in line with the dash trim.

Re: Autoweek Reviews 2007 Saturn Aura

I am still having hard time with the new GM interiors ... this one looks like a hyundai .. not in materials, but in design - extremely generic and nondescript ...

Does the aura have any option without the fake wood? I am not a big fan of any wood - let alone a fake one, and maybe without it I would like the interior more.

it is still a very weak design - but I guess, materials and ergonomics will be what counts.

Re: Autoweek Reviews 2007 Saturn Aura

I really think that not having the high mounted display above the vents (a la concept) was a mistake. It looks far less upscale.

That being said I sat in a fully loaded XR Saturday with the brown interior and it was very nice. I do wish for an Onstar delete option, as GM really needs to ax the forhead pimple style onstar/XM antenna (you can get rid of it in the Bu/G6 by not getting onstar, but you can't not get it on the Aura). That and a manual trans (Redline, please!), and I would buy the car.

Nav and bluetooth would be nice too, but arent deal-killers like an auto.

I really like this car, and think itll do wonders for saturn and GM, but I wouldnt get one myself unless the redline has a manual.

Also, the concept had brown leather with silver trim, a combo that looked good but is not available in production. Why?

I finally had a chance to read that article. I got it on Thursday, and read it Sunday. Great read.

Re: Autoweek Reviews 2007 Saturn Aura

this only proves that its beneficial that even with a capable pushrod mill under the hood in the base model, they car would get no cred unless GM finally brought a mainstream car to market with an Available DOHC engine and a tranny with more than 4 speeds. LOOK AT THE RESPONSE. It wouldn't get the same gushing if it only had the 3.5. I hope GM learns from this with their other mid size front drivers.

Are they current Saturn owners or conquest, or do you know. Saturn owners are quite loyal. I had three!

According to Jill Lajdziak, yes, it is. I don't see an option on the Saturn website to choose which one you want, but I've heard from a few people (some of which sell Saturns or work at the Fairfax plant) that you can get the silver trim with the Morocco brown leather like the concept car.
