Re: 2008 Cobalt SS Turbo First Drive
Great to hear, sounds like a heck of a compact. But like its been said before, and these pictures show it, more needs to be done to the appearance of the car. A new set of more agressive GFX would just do it at this point. You have projector foglamps and a some silly side skirts, and the only thing that makes this different then a Cobalt Sport coupe is a wing!!
Make it more agressive cause you are selling it to more agressive buyers. Aka rice it out cause you are selling it to ricers. When in Rome....

Re: 2008 Cobalt SS Turbo First Drive
I think it looks really good even though this car will be replaced. Once again, I have negative comments. For the amount of money you spend for this car, did they soften the top of the dash to reduce some future rattles ? There should a 5 or 6 speed auto optional and I will not bring up the Navigation issue.
Like I said before, if GM didnt want to redo the Cobalt, all they have to do is change the front, rear, give it a new dash and obviously more gears for the auto. |

![]() Like I said before, GM doesn't see the benefit in doing that IE selling more Cobalts to justify doing that, which I think is extremely disappointing, but its true. For the record, my belief is the MCE should have looked like this front clip wise and minus wide body kit: ![]() with a malibu inspired dash. Above is the 2005 Cobalt SS wide body concept. ![]() CobaltSS

Yep. Love, love, LOVE the sedan. I was a total Mazdaspeed 3 fanboy until now (I currently drive a Protege5). This is in serious contention to be my next car. Bluetooth for '09 is just icing on the cake.

Re: 2008 Cobalt SS Turbo First Drive
Appearance wise.......I think GM did a better job with ground effects & what not back in the early-mid 90's w/cars like the Lumina Z34 and Grand Prix SE. The very least they can do for the Cobalt turbo is get some nifty looking BBS wheels.....

Re: 2008 Cobalt SS Turbo First Drive
Actually, Eldo, as far as the sedan goes, I wouldn't change a single thing on it. It's low-key, but just different enough to know you've got something special. And that burgundy red color is just sex on wheels.

Re: 2008 Cobalt SS Turbo First Drive
Time, yes. Eternity, no. They need to get a move-on with the 6 speeds. ALL GMT-900's should have them by now. The Lucerne/DTS should have them by now. You should not have to wait for a full changeover. My father-in-law's 2005 Camry (4 cyl) has a 5 speed auto - it was the first year a 4 cyl Camry had a 5 speed auto - and it was the LAST year for that body style!!!!

Re: 2008 Cobalt SS Turbo First Drive
If the EPA ratings of 23/30 are true, I really don't see the need for a 6-speed. Would it be cool & nice and afford certain bragging rights? Sure. But consider that even the new Evo (the non-DSG model) has a 5-speed, and it's nothing to sneeze at. From what I've heard, the LNF is so flexible and torquey, a 6-speed really isn't necessary. But if it could kick up the highway rating to 31 or 32, I sure wouldn't complain.
