It's GMCs version of the Silverado SS.

That article is wrong... the 6.0L - 345hp engine in the truck is NOT a deturned LS2.

And like the SS, you can't get it in a regular cab. Too bad.

Re: 2005 GMC Sierra Performance Edition

Nice try, but 7.5 to 60 makes this thing roadkill compared to the Ford or Dodge. Wonder how much an LS2 swap would cost?

The article never stated that. It said that the engine comes from the same family, and that a host of aftermarket parts are available due to this, which is absolutely correct...

Re: 2005 GMC Sierra Performance Edition

That is the GMC Sierra Denali. I got the flyer/postcard for it when I requested info about the dually 3500. It's pretty much the same as the last Denali pickup, but a crewcab instead. The questions I had were about the drivetrain, transfer case, like what trans does it use, and does it have a low gear for the 4wd. The info I got did not specify.

I still think GMC needs to seperate itself from Chevy a little bit more. This thing's basically a Silverado SS with GMC badges.

I think that the problem is that it looks just like any GMC Sierra.

Not to nitpick, but...

A four-speed. Now there's a big f^&ken surprise.

Yep, that's the engine based on the current Chevy Corvette's 400-hp LS2 engine.
My statement stands.

Gibbs performance Silverado!
-400hp
-reg cab
-sportside (stepside whatever)

It might have 100hp less than the SRT-10, but it kinda plays the role of Corvette, close performance for 1/2 the cost.

I was intrigued by those but I prefer the Sierra face much better, and also not a fan of the sportside although it would be ok. I'm also in Canada, so don't think its available up here although I have not looked to be honest.

is that your SS in the avatar?? If so, very nice, I miss my 97 WS6 Formula six speed and the LS1 cars are that much better....

Re: 2005 GMC Sierra Performance Edition

0-60 in 7.5 sec? 15.5ish Quarter Mile? A Colorado will do that with the I-5 that everyone hates so much, and cost you less than $20k. Plus you can get it as a regular cab, with a 5 speed, and it's easier to park. I guess 1000 lbs in extra curb weight just about equal the 125hp extra HP you get for your money.
