Re: SEMA 09: Honda Old School

I so wanted a CRX when I was a senior in HS! Been a long time since I've seen one with Mugen flares. Looks really good.

And that second picture is just about exactly what I wanted to do with my 79 Civic back in the mid-eighties. A buddy of mine had one with dual carbs and Gold Wing pistons. It would run with the Mustang GTs of the day.

C+ for authenticity.
Far better than anything shown by Toyota at SEMA.

Someone lean up against it?

I always wanted a CRX Si. I've always liked small, light, agile cars with just enough power to have fun. The high fuel economy was a plus as well. All the CRX's out there now have been either riced out or are rusted to the point of being useless. Pity. I've always liked Honda.

These were the cars that built Honda's reputation. Outside of the Fit and Civic, I think the company has lost its focus.

Re: SEMA 09: Honda Old School

I so wisg I could buy a '76 Civic like my parents had. They're all gone now and Honda doesn't do retro.

Really. Who would have thought that Honda of all companies would do a 'truck'? Yeah, the Ridgeline isn't a real truck, but for Honda it's pretty far out there and not in line with what made Honda what it is. They should keep the Civic, Fit, Element, CR-V and the Insight. Make the European Accord (Acura TSX) our Accord and ditch the nearly-Impala-sized Accord and keep the S2000. The Odyssey, Ridgeline and Pilot should go.

I like the last one, but I think it's time to just let these sad little cars die.

Re: SEMA 09: Honda Old School

Car and Driver thought the CRX was the second coming. It got 50mpg and was 'sports car' without being impractical.

We could use a new CRX today.

They must have lost it to Ford. They'd had it for nearly a decade.

i agree, and i didn't like the last one. don't get me wrong they are good lil fuel sipping appliances, but they are still ugly and have ZERO performance cred. and for the record YES i have driven and even owned a few Civics, crx si's, and integra GSR/type R. fun but ultimately kiddie toys/ econoboxes trying as hard as they can to be sports cars and when exposed to real performance cars; comming up short every time.

Glad to see you survived! I can't imagine an 86 CRX being able to take a whole lot of damage without severly mangling it's occupants.
